God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Playstation Illustrated
13 February 2011
  • Excerpt: With a long-running franchise like God of War , the challenge is always trying to find a way to keep things fresh without drifting so far away from the core that it pisses off your loyal fans (and they WILL let you know if something isn't right - just ask Ninja Theory or Valve). God of War: Ghost of Sparta does right by the series, and should please fans.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta

Game Over Online
23 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Two years ago, Chains of Olympus crashed down on the PSP and raised the bar for what could be done on the hardware. It delivered the full God of War experience, but with some sacrifices made to the epic scale. Still, it was a remarkably accurate portable rendition for one of the PS2’s most taxing games. Now, Ready at Dawn has returned with the PSP’s finest-looking game yet. Ghost of Sparta takes the great portable foundation laid in CoO and improves upon it marvelously.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta PSP Review

Console Obsession
19 November 2010
  • Excerpt: There have been plenty of console franchises that have also had entries on the PSP, many of which have had developers making compromises to better suit the portable format and its limitations, but in no way does God of War: Ghost of Sparta feel as if it’s held back by the format. Whilst there’s never been any doubt at the PSP’s graphical capabilities, God of War: Ghost of Sparta however employs visual effects that most would have thought not possible for the format.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
13 November 2010
  • Excerpt: How does Sony manage to do it all the time? No, allow me to rephrase that. How does this franchise always manage to do it? How does it manage to not change its formula, but always win us over? God of War: Ghost of Sparta plays not much differently than the GOW games before it, and yet, we don't care. Has this franchise stumbled upon something that defies age? I'm not sure just yet, but what I do know is that I wholly enjoy this game.
