Gangs of London

The Gamers Temple
13 June 2007
  • Excerpt: Gangs of London brings the London underworld of The Getaway games to your PSP for a little organized crime action on the go. Like its home-based brethren, Gangs of London recreates the streets of London and lets you go about your nefarious activities in the shadows of the city’s landmarks such as Big Ben. As suits a city the size of London, there’s a lot of gameplay packed into the game.

Gangs of London

GameTrailers
6 December 2006
  • Excerpt: From the studio that brought us the ambitious--if lackluster--Getaway games comes Gangs of London; a gritty story of gang warfare played in little, bloody, bite-sized chunks. In fact, it’s one of the only recent PSP games to really cater to the portable experience, being extremely easy to pick up and play in short bursts; trading in the giant, free-roaming nature of its prequels for a very linear, mission-based affair. It’s just a shame it doesn’t play a bit better.

Gangs of London

Auracore MediaWorks
6 November 2006
  • Summary: Gangs of London takes a run at Rockstar and falls far flat.
  • Pros: Great initial presentation; nice graphics, player characters animate well; players can cruise a faithful recreation of London; plenty of mini-games.
  • Cons: Repetitive mission design; gameplay can become frustrating at close range due to shoddy lock-on system; disjointed story that never seems to fully develop; campaign mode and mini-games are mutually exclusive modes of play from the free roaming mode.

Gangs of London

Project COE

  • Conclusion: The graphics aren’t a technical powerhouse but the game’s presentation is impressive. Everything is stylized and polished from the comic-style cutscenes to the game’s menu system. The graphics themselves are somewhat basic in design with characters sporting low polygon counts and poor animations. The most impressive aspect of the graphics is the size and scope of the city. London looks massive and driving around the city will only solidify this fact.

Gangs of London Review

GameSpot
3 October 2006
  • Summary: There's no shortage of things to do in Gangs of London--the trouble is that none of it is much fun.
  • Pros: Great voice acting
  • Cons: Story missions are disconnected from one another and frequently brief, Third-person shooting controls and driving controls are lousy, An insane amount of mission repetition, Free-ride missions and gang-battle modes aren't much fun, In-game graphics are bland

Gangs of London Review

IGN
15 August 2006
  • Conclusion: In fact, that’s a fairly accurate summary of Gangs of London as a whole: when it works, it’s a solid, if unremarkable, piece of entertainment. Unfortunately, when it’s bad, it’s a detestable hell spawn of frustration and misery. Thankfully, it’s largely the on-foot sections where things go completely tits-up and the worst offenders account for a relatively small portion of the game.

Gangs of London - PSP

Futuregamez.net
29 May 2007
  • Summary: Gangs of London is a very average title that feels like a game set in The Getaway universe, but without the name. Sadly this game has more problems then the PS2 games and can only be recommended to die-hard action fans, or fans of The Getaway

Expert Review

Gry - Wirtualna Polska
4 April 2007
  • Excerpt: Mając za sobą kilkadziesiąt godzin spędzonych z serią The Getaway , z o wiele większym entuzjazmem oczekiwałem na Gangs of London . Grę, która dopiero podczas produkcji przeistoczyła się w nieoficjalny sequel wspomnianej serii, a przez niektórych po dziś dzień postrzegana jest jako "kieszonkowe The Getaway" właśnie. Nic bardziej mylnego.
