Football Manager Handheld 2010 Review

GameSpot
16 July 2010
  • Excerpt: Managing a professional soccer team is arguably one of the most stressful jobs in sport, but if you've ever played one of developer Sports Interactive's management sims, then you know that it can also be a lot of fun. Poring over spreadsheets and experiencing matches primarily via text-based commentary have long been favorite pastimes for fans of the Football Manager games, and the series' only major weakness is that as it has become increasingly deep with every...
  • Pros: Accessible for newcomers to the series, Plenty of stuff to do between match days
  • Cons: Not deep enough to keep veterans interested for more than a few seasons, Inconsistent and occasionally nonsensical feedback, Some of the menus that make up much of the game are unwieldy

  • Conclusion: A positive to come out of the hardware constraints means the PSP version isn't as in-depth as the PC version, so this means anyone new to the series will find it easier to play and much less confusing. Football Manager will test out your managerial skills, as well as your patience. You'll have to deal with the Board, fans, injuries and disgruntled players to create a successful team. Long time fans of the series will no doubt enjoy this game.
  • Pros: Detailed reports from the Assistant Manager, Coach and Scout, New skin, Easy to navigate, A plethora of stats
  • Cons: Lack of media and team communications, No crowd noises during games
