Dragons in games are generally there for you to slay, of course there are exceptions, such as Drakengard and Panzer Dragoon, where the scaly beasts are friendly. Getting to the point, we can now add Dragonner’s Aria From Hitmaker (crafters of the underrated Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light) to umm…both lists. Read more

If you're an RPG aficionado, though, then this will certainly occupy you for a while. The plot is just the right side of cliché to hold your interest, and the gameplay is solid – if unspectacular. Couple this with similarly-afflicted graphics and, admittedly, a great soundtrack and you have a worringly mediocre RPG – so avoid unless you're a huge genre addict. Read more

Looking at the PSP's library as a whole, the one thing that really stands out is the number of RPGs available. Although the genre had an incredibly rough start on the system, the quality has gone up along with the number of titles available. Read more

Dragoneer's Aria is simply average in almost every way, there's no getting around it. Parts of the storyline can be entertaining, but only as much as the localization gave the characters a little pop. Otherwise, it's a purely paint-by-numbers game. Read more

  5. Game Almighty

    23 August 2007

Dragoneer's Aria revels in its own complexity but several issues keep it from earning a “must have” status, especially in the face of recent competition. Read more

    • • Deep gameplay, • Good localization, • Detailed graphics
    • • Sloooooow pace, • Lot of grinding, • Cumbersome interface

There are a lot of people that really hate this game because of this, that, and the other (I will let you read their reviews) but I have to tell you I really enjoyed it. It gave me hours of entertainment and it, though definitely grind heavy, is fun. It does have bad voice acting but if you play enough jrpgs you will find that this is a common theme. The game is about the peace demonstration by six elemental dragons of water, fire, thunder, earth, wind, and ice. Each player can pick a separate role to play. When a black dragon suddenly appears and starts to destroy the land, it’s up to one young dragoneer to stop it with the help of his friends.

With this game, the player selects the order in which the characters are to act including Attack to attack an opponent, Mana to perform skills and magic, Guard to defend against an opponent’s attack, Item to use an item in the inventory, and Escape to run away from battle. Considering that characters possess elemental "dragon orbs", they are able to use "dragon skills" too. Some of those skills produce additional damaging elemental effects called "elemental combos". In the field, there are monsters roaming as flying eyeballs, which trigger battle sequences when the character comes into contact with them. These eyeballs chase after the on-screen character if he/she comes into the eyeballs’ view.
