Conclusion: ). The story has fun and highly animated characters, and offers an engaging storyline with solid production values. The actual game play is insanely addictive. While it can get very repetitive, there is still a lot to do with the story mode, Item World, Dark Assembly, etc. to keep the game play fresh. There are always new items to find, skills to master, character classes to obtain, and so on. As for this PSP port, it is very well done.
Pros: Fixes some of the slowdown issues in the original game, New features make an already heavily replayable game even more replayable, Beautiful transition to widescreen, Adorable characters with excellent voice acting, Prinnies
Cons: Still not very accessible to anyone not already versed in strategy RPGs, Still has a poorly implemented camera
Excerpt: Okay! So I’m a little bit late jumping on this bandwagon, but damn it
all, this series rocks! I also realize that N1 is bringing it to the
market at an awful time considering that Final Fantasy Tactics has just
been released for the same platform. Now, I’m all for some FFT, but
where that game made this genre of strategic role-playing games
popular, Disgaea makes it seem like a fine craft. MASSIVE Wait, what? As the story unfolds, you will see something sinister
Excerpt: Anyone who knows me knows that Disgaea was one of my favorite PS2 titles, and probably in my Top 10 list of favorite games, period. So it should come as no surprise that when I got Afternoon of Darkness, I was a little skeptical at seeing the transition from PS2 to PSP. I should have known better, though, and just trusted NIS, because once again, they delivered. If you’ve played Disgaea before, you know what this game is. For the most part, it’s an exact port.
Excerpt: Square Enix has some serious competition If you mention Strategy RPG to PSP owners they will probably give you one of 2 responses. Either, ?oh you mean like Final Fantasy Tactics? or ?what the **** is one of them?? Now to be fair the genre is not that popular here in the west- in it’s native Japan on the other hand it as popular as the normal RPG’s. Now the people who thought they were like FF tactics were spot on.
Pros: Excellent gameplay & graphics-Loads of game for your money
Cons: Tough learning curve- not exactly pick up and play!
