Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness PSP Review
30 May 2010
Excerpt: At first glance you’d be forgiven for calling it just another SRPG. The genre principles are all present and correct: two tacticians, human or AI, take turns to move their forces around a chessboard map, healing allies and picking fights as appropriate till one side is entirely destroyed and the map is ‘completed’, whereupon a narrative interlude occurs and a new map becomes available.
Excerpt: When older games get ported to a newer system, it can sometimes be a drag for both players and the market. For a time, it looked as though the PSP would be drowned in hasty ports. Thankfully, for all the ports that the system has received, Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness is one that clearly stands out as worthwhile, boasting both new content and improvements, yet leaving intact what made the original game so popular.
