Test Disgaea 2 Dark Hero Days

Generation NT
9 April 2010

Have I Been Here in a Previous Life?

RPGamer
1 March 2010
  • Excerpt: Released in 2003, the original Disgaea for the PlayStation 2 was received with open arms by RPGamers and critics alike. It boasted a strategic, turn based combat model with highly unusual methods for levelling up characters, weapons, armor and statistics, as well as a quirky, humorous, anime style story. Nippon Ichi quickly took advantage of that success, releasing a couple of direct sequels and a few spin-offs.

What once was big is now small, and just as big.

  • Conclusion: Ahhh, Disgaea . Before I started writing for GR, I had bought and was working my way through the first incarnation of Disgaea for the PSP . So being able to do a write-up for this one is a beautiful, beautiful thing... which has kept me from getting enough sleep for days. And I already own this game on the PS2!
  • Pros: Custom parties and creatable characters, Item World is even more addicting, Dialog is fluid and funny, Still a Playstation beauty champ
  • Cons: Nothing terribly new or innovative

Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days

gamervision.com
21 September 2009
  • Excerpt: When a copy of Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days landed on my desk, I was excited to dive into the world that I spent so many hours with a few years earlier. The previous title was one of my first experiences with a tactical RPG, and had to be one of the most charming games on the PlayStation 2. For whatever reason, I skipped out on the sequel, so a chance to go back and right that wrong was one I couldn't ignore. That said, I'll admit that I was a bit worried about the port.

Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days Review

G4
8 September 2009
  • Summary: Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days is, the in most literal sense, a portable version of Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, the 2006 PS2 cult hit. As we've discovered many times over the last couple of years, simply chopping the top and bottom off a console game's graphics -- or grabbing at both ends and stretching them the other way -- does not suddenly make it fun to play on the go.
  • Pros: Looks great on a small screen, Paced for short, quick game sessions, Layer after layer of depth
  • Cons: Way more to learn than most players ever will, English script could have been better

25 December 2010
  • Excerpt: Fan of the series or not, Disgaea 2 will offer you alot out of your PSP from it’s level grinding. If you think RPG/Strategy games hard, then you’ve probably never heard of the Disgaea series. If you haven’t heard of the series it has a random and humorous story set in The Netherworld full of Demons, Disgaea 2 however is a sequel to the first Disgaea game back in 2003 for the Playstation 2 and got re-released for the PSP and DS.
  • Pros: New features and content added to the PSP version, DLC content, Random sense of humor
  • Cons: Fiddly Camrea
