Diner Dash – Sizzle & Serve
18 March 2008
Conclusion: Despite it's fast expiration date and overly basic gameplay, Diner Dash is a moderately enjoyable title. Earlier qualms over the face of the game's content were unjustified; if you're going to make a game about being a waitress, this is exactly how you do it. The screaming-with-your-hair-on-fire pace tries it's best to ascend Flo & Co to above average heights, but they're pulled right back down by the a non nonchalant lack of depth and borderline ridiculous nature of the...
Excerpt: I made the mistake of thinking I was getting the better version of Diner Dash because it was on the technologically superior Playstation Portable. Eating crow over ideas like that is starting to come more naturally to me. The screen design of the PSP does have one feature of improvement over the Nintendo DS - no screen swapping. I could play without having to scroll back and forth a lot, which was nice.
Excerpt: Diner Dash: Sizzle & Serve looks pretty good. This game has its roots in an older PC flash game, but this new and improved version looks just right on your PSP. Flo is your main character and she has several different animations that she'll do just while she is waiting to take customers orders. You can unlock different outfits that she can change into based on completing restaurants. And of course, there are the restaurants themselves.
Conclusion: Diner Dash is a simple and addictive arcade-style game that is easy to get into. I understand where its roots lie but all around the experience didn't feel complete somehow. The gameplay yields little to no variety, the graphics are painfully simplistic, and the sound is very repetitive. This may be a fun one to take on the road with you but unless you're a fan of the series I'd say this is a rental at best.
Conclusion: Diner Dash is a solid if ugly puzzler. While you might think the score undermines our verdict on this, you have to bear in mind the price is too high for what you get, especially if you factor in the free version available online.
Pros: Origineel, Bezigheidstherapie
Cons: Altijd hetzelfde, Besturing is vervelend, Te duur
