Death Jr.

Cosmos Gaming
16 December 2005
  • Excerpt: The answer is complicated. Death Jr. (Or DJ as his mother and friends call him) , has his moments but in all is a bit lackluster. However, if you’re looking for an average platformer for your PSP, don’t miss out on this.

Death, Jr.

Portable Review
22 October 2005
  • Excerpt: From the time the PSP was announced to its release in Japan, the only real screenshots available were those of Death Jr. This fact alone has caused the hype surrounding the game to rise to unreasonable heights. It’s not so much that Death Jr. is a bad game, but rather that it doesn’t meet up to the hype.

Death Jr.

Game Over Online
1 September 2005
  • Excerpt: When it comes to launching a system, lead titles face immense pressure to be extraordinary, particularly in capturing the magic of the hardware and what it can do. Some games, like Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog accomplish this well and become legendary; others don’t fare so well and fade into the “what could’ve been” pile. When the PSP was first announced, a little title named Death Jr.

  • Excerpt: Plot? Who cares?! Death Jr. and his school buddies, a ghastly mix of people with names like Stigmartha and Smith & Weston, have accidentally opened Pandora's box while exploring a museum. The demon inside the box has broken the souls of DJ's friends into pieces, and now DJ has to retrieve them. That's where you come in. You control Death Jr. as he slashes and shoots his way through 18 gigantic 3D environments full of demons and assorted bric-a-brac.

  • Conclusion: Great idea, poor execution. It's a common story, but this was supposed to be an uncommon game. Hopefully things will turn around should a sequel pan out, but the first Death's DOA.

Death Jr. (PSP)
