For non-hardcore Castlevania fans though, The Dracula X Chronicles will be too difficult to get into. Would it have been too much to ask for an easy difficulty setting? If you’ve ever enjoyed a Castlevania game before or you’re as sick as I am with games that are way too easy, give this a try. You’ll... Read more

An accurate translation and graphical update of the most coveted CASTLEVANIA import ("Rondo of Blood" for the PC-Engine), DRACULA X CHRONICLES retains that old-school CASTLEVANIA feel, predating the METROID-esque exploration and secrets. The focus here is instead on classic whip action, complete with the stiff-feeling controls that feel natural over time and the punishing difficulty that rewards patience and perserverence. The pseudo 3-D facelift is lovely, adding... Read more
