Brave Story New Traveler

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: For a long while the RPG Master has been disappointed with the role playing game genre. There have been few RPG games that have drawn the RPG Master into them, and where the RPG cared about the characters. Enter Brave Story New Traveler from Xseed Games. Not only does this Playstation Portable video game draw the player in, but it also has a nice rich world that reminds one of the Chronicles of Narnia.

  • Excerpt: The PSP is no stranger to RPGs. With a ton of titles constantly hitting the little widescreened handheld, there seems to be a bit of something for everyone. Brave Story has a very clear demographic. It's designed for RPG fans, and ONLY RPG fans. When the story opens, it seems innocent enough: You're a boy named Tatsuya, who sits around playing, of all things, his PSP. His girlfriend nags for attention, but his game is far too interesting! She runs off with her dog...

Brave Story: New Traveler

Thunderbolt Games
17 August 2007
  • Excerpt: This is the story of a young boy named Tatsuya. He absolutely loves to play videogames (who doesn’t?), so much so that his girlfriend often feels neglected around him. One day, his dearest falls ill under mysterious circumstances; this is Tatsuya’s wake-up call. Desperate to save her, our ten year old protagonist drops to his knees and as fortune would have it, he opens up a portal into a fantasy world called Vision: a realm where one’s deepest desires are granted by an...

WorthPlaying
9 August 2007
  • Summary: Brave Story: New Traveler features an entertaining storyline, enjoyable cast of characters and traditional turn-based battle system which is easy to pick up and play even for beginners, but has great depth and innovation for the seasoned gamers.

Brave Story: New Traveler

Project COE
31 July 2007
  • Conclusion: For those looking for a lengthy single-player and ultimately truly classic RPG for the PSP, then Brave Story is a great choice. It’ll take dozens of hours to complete the main quest and there are some sidequests to check out as well. It’s a nice quest and a well-done game, but just not the most original. As a result, the experience may not feel too rewarding for veteran players, and the story may not seem as neat as it could be.

  • Conclusion: Though it can hold claim to the title of most advanced PSP tech showpiece, the actual gameplay part of Brave Story is left lacking -- if only a little. Go into it expecting naught but a cliched RPG experience and you won't be disappointed.

Brave Story: New Traveler

Portable Review
19 July 2007
  • Excerpt: We all know what it takes to make a good RPG. It’s really not that hard. Make the character models look unique, the dungeons varied, and throw in some level grind goodness but don’t make it too tedious or too frequent. Take this, coupled with a story that captivates the game playing audience, and you’ve got something that will satisfy most RPG nerds.

Brave Story New Traveler

RPG LAND
13 July 2007
  • Excerpt: Along with help from a few good titles recently released, and others forthcoming, Brave Story: New Traveler is bringing the PSP into a good light as an appealing platform for RPG lovers. Brave Story: New Traveler is part of a group whose other games (one one PS2, another on DS), based on an anime and graphic novel, have not received English translation.
