To begin the game, the player will take on the role of the hero and work through a story featuring Wataru, Meena and the rest of the main Brave Story cast. As the player attacks his enemies, he will build up a Brave Power meter, which indicates his courage. Once maxed out, the player can perform a special attack, while he build up his weapons by collecting gems and can even perform combination attacks with his two battle companions.

In the end, Brave Story comes as something of a surprise and quite a pleasant one at that. Its character rich storyline and amazingly detailed presentation make for one truly exceptional experience and while the battle system is somewhat typical, it, too, provides the gamer with title unlike any other. Brave Story: New Traveler is the sequel to Brave Story, and I can't say it's exactly highly anticipated. The original was an average RPG at best, and this follow up doesn't take the genre anywhere it hasn't already been. It's the same old story, and although it does try to give the impression of originality, that veneer rubs off quickly, exposing the core of a very average RPG. Read more
