PSP Review - 'Astro Boy: The Video Game'
22 November 2009
Summary: Based on the upcoming feature film, Astro Boy: The Video Game will allow players to become Astro Boy, a young boy robot with incredible powers who takes to the streets and skies on an epic adventure to save Metro City from the clutches of the evil President Stone and his robot army.
Excerpt: Once upon a time, only Disney was capable of spoiling a license this thoroughly. Recently, we've seen scads of good gaming come out of the House of Mouse, so the mantle of poor licensed games must apparently be passed along. This game adaptation of a movie adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's own adaptation (see below for links to our reviews of the recent DVD re-release) of his famous manga (whew!) is really just a mess.
Excerpt: One of Osamu Tezuka's most beloved creations was granted a silver-screen adaptation rather recently, complete with a complimentary videogame tie-in. Does this side-scrolling anime-influenced action title keep with the spirit of the fun-filled original anime, or does it fall sorely into quick cash-in territory?
Pros: Effectively pairs a 2D Brawler with a Flying Shooter; Had the gall to combine armaments with bodily processes
