Excerpt: Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play is a collection of 21 classic games for PSP. Featuring arcade perfect ports of Spy Hunter, Sinistar, Defender, Paperboy and 720, there are also over a dozen other classic games which have been enhanced to support WiFi multiplayer. These include classics like Gauntlet, Joust and Rampage, but also the cult classics Mortal Kombat I, II, and III.
Pros: ups: WiFi multiplayer support for many of the titles, solid ports of classic games.
Cons: downs: No WiFi support for 720, ESRB rating not representative, PSP analog stick is wonky, multiplayer requires multiple cartridges.
Conclusion: Beyond the aforementioned, there isn't anything else to really grab you with this compilation. A lot of the games are classics and super fun to toy with, but not for elongated periods of time, and because of the stupidly long loading, it does get frustrating after awhile. The visuals haven't been boosted and the audio maintains the same sounds and bleeps you'll remember from the arcade cabinets that once housed these games.
Pros: 21 arcade classics including Gauntlet and the MK series, Easy to navigate menus, All the MK gore is intact
Cons: Super long load times, Some questionable games here, No unlockable content
Summary: Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play is a solid compilation that just feels like a rushed port job. There's no extras, no option to return graphics to the original ratio and sub standard audio. Still, retro gamers should probably check this out at a discounted price.
Excerpt: Recently Midway has been doing a lot of what most publishers do at one stage, bundling their best retro games into one collection. They didn't really stop at one package, and they've actually created three different compilation titles in as many years. And now, the decision has been made to bring twenty-one of these titles to the PSP with Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play , but is the compilation a hidden treasure or a quick cash-in?
Pros: Veel leuke spellen, Goede speelbaarheid
Cons: Lange laadtijden, Meerdere exemplaren nodig bij multiplayer, Beeldkwaliteit niet altijd in orde
