Summary: In summary, I've owned this projector for about a month, and my thoughts so far are that this projector is fantastic; I can't think of much I don't like about it. I'm going to touch on a few aspects I feel might be useful for people in making their decisions. First, my setup.
Summary: I purchased this and a white 107 inch manual screen and am amazed with the picture quality. I also am using a Sony surround sound dvd & wireless system. I sometimes have low resolution with certain Netflix videos over the network, but the projector is doing a fine job.
Summary: I got this projector a month back and use this to play my ps3 games and HD movies, blue ray movies etc. Great projector. I had a little fight to install it as this does not have a horizontal and vertical control to move the picture.
Summary: I was decided to start my hometheater with a Full HD Projector that fix with my budget. The Vivitek H1080FD 1080P Home Theater Projector was the first one I selected after a study of some other brands below $1,000. The search included Optoma, Panasonic, Epson, Mitsubishi and ViewSonic.
Summary: For the price this thing can't be beat. I'm using it for video editing and it's awesome. Watch blueray on it as well and it's like being at the theater (with the 5.1 as well). There are times when it runs all day and I haven't has a single problem.
Summary: Like I said i have mine projecting on the wall, I smoothed out the texture and painted it with bahr silver screen, $15 for a pint at Home Depot, then out lined the screen area with some trim. At 1080p it looks as if we installed a T.V. in the wall.
Pros: Great overall projector. Even during the day with the blinds open and the lights on you can still see the picture. I have mine projecting onto the wall and it looks awesome.
Cons: None so far, I have had this projector for a week and have put 30 hours on it with out any problems. Also, it is a little loud on high alt setting, I live in Colorado, but when you turn on the surround sound you do not notice it.
