Summary: Personal Experience True 1080p native resolution under $1000. I paid $899 at best buy. Has 2 HDMI inputs, and a huge variety of inputs/outputs. It also has audio out, which was important to me. In this price range, DLP is far superior to LCD projectors. I originally purchased a $1699 Epson 3LCD projector, and this Vivitek has a much better, crisper, brighter, more vivid picture.
Summary: I am very happy with my purchase. I work in the AV industry, so I play with many much more expensive and much higher quality projectors. For the price this one is a great buy. Very sharp and bright I do not even use it on the brightest setting. Blacks are good. The fan is noticeable if you are right next to it or under it.(Reason for my 4 stars) Mine is ceiling mounted and my favorite seat is right under it. Its Not enough to gripe about.
Summary: We received this recently, and after testing it out we're very happy with the picture, menus, noise level, and brightness, particularly for the price. We test drove a video in 1080p on the projector, and it's great, so probably good for home theater use. That said, we're using it as a work projector most of the time. If you're just doing PowerPoint, probably not necessary.
Summary: I will update this review after 6 months with the product. Initial impressions: Beyond expectations. Wow! Silent operation. Functions well. VERY happy that I didn't settle for 720p! I use my projector as purely a TV replacement for my living room, displaying the HTPC or Xbox360 via HDMI. I project a 97" image at 11.5' from the ceiling onto a wall painted with Behr Silverscreen.
Summary: I was pleased with how quiet the projector was, but was disappointed to find out how far it had to be from the wall and ceiling for proper ventilation which meant the resultant image was smaller than I had expected. Still, it is a decent unit for the price and much cheaper and easier to deal with than a monitor of the same image size.
