Good Projector...when it works.

KD does the AV, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: I use this product in a conference room with a 50' High Quality HDMI cable made for long distances. The projector projects great. I had three separate issues that are still unresolved even after sending the projector in for warranty repair.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy to use
  • Cons: Unreliable performance

ViewSonic 8520HD

RRRoger, B&H Photo
9 February 2015
  • Excerpt: We use this for Sunday Morning Services. Projected images are AweSum! Only two problems: 1. Still too bright for my Video Camera to record at 60%. The image wants to over expose/ blow out, the Pastor standing next to the screen is too dark and is the color of the wall behind him. 2.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, Great picture quality, Reliable Performance, Small Footprint

After 2 defective units - I'm done!

Jeff C, B&H Photo
11 July 2014
  • Excerpt: Let me start by saying B&H Photo was and is great company to do business with. I wish I could say the same for ViewSonic. We are building a new church building and purchased what seemed to be a great value projector - the ViewSonic Pro8520HD. Our video installer ran into a problem.
  • Pros: Free Return Shipping
  • Cons: 169 Image - Not Accurate, Customer Service, Improper Image - Not 169, Inaccurate Aspect Ratio, Quality

Beautiful image but lacking hardware

The Church Media Guy, B&H Photo
5 June 2014
  • Excerpt: 5K lumens for this price point is exceptional but I had to return the unit due to a defective HDMI input #1 plus weak output audio. HDMI1 had static and flicker like a bad connection. HDMI2 worked flawlessly and had a beautiful, bright image. I was in heaven.
  • Pros: Bright Beautiful Image, Easily Viewed, Great price, Lightweight
  • Cons: Flimsy, Loud And Hot, Weak Audio Passthrough

  • Summary: Arrived with a non-functional remote. Viewsonic did support and provided a replacement, albeit a bit slow. Not as bright as I had hoped. I thought this would be enough lumens for our banquet hall but it looks a bit washed out. Should have gone with a brighter projector.

Arrived DOA

Tim B, Amazon
28 April 2014
  • Summary: Projector would power on but the bulb was broken. Big problem when you need the projector functioning for a conference in 2 days. Viewsonic support was woefully unhelpful. Got a refund and had a BenQ Projector overnighted, happy since.

  • Summary: Excellent projector. We replaced an aging Optoma (3000 lumens) in our church hall with this and the difference is night and day. Now we have vibrant colors even with the hall lights on. The remote could be larger, or larger text, but it is not a problem.

Not distraction free viewing depending on your equipment

Mike, Amazon
28 April 2014
  • Summary: The Good. The projector is bright and has a great picture. It's the best 5000 lumens you can get for the price. This was meant for a room that has windows and the brightness is great. I wasn't as concerned about the finer points of picture quality, but I didn't notice anything that looked off.
