Cons: I tried every conceivable settings in the AVS calibration thread but I suspect that my Pro8200 is defective because the picture in Lord of the Ring or Bourne trilogy BD are unwatchable. There was no detail in dark scenes and real dark overall. I did set the Panasonic BD player to RGB enhanced and the Viewsonic to RGB. Will call newegg to see what they can do.
Summary: So after only a few months of ownership I'm already going to be on my third projector. I think this one I may just sell and buy something nicer -- might be time to cut my losses.
Pros: The picture is plenty bright (maybe even too bright), but the black levels aren't very good at all. Not a very durable product.
Cons: I bought this projector after reading a lot of the reviews. This projector is not a very reliable projector and has already broken on me twice. The first time I simply had it RMAed through newegg (which doesn't allow returns for projectors, unlike another major online store FYI). About a week ago the projector started to make a funny buzzing noise and now longer even turns on. Since this garbage projector comes with a 3 year warranty, I figured there'd be no big deal....
Summary: The projected image wasn't very bright nor very crisp. We had an old Dell 1609WX that was much brighter. The projected image wasn't very large. This projector wants a long throw, even at maximum zoom. (I know this because of the Viewsonic logo screen I was able to project. Which was not at all crisp.
Pros: Specs look good, price is competitive.
Cons: Did not work with a 50-foot DVI cable with HDMI adapter at the projector end; DVI signal came from a known-good almost-new NVIDIA card in a known-good computer. Our Samsung TV worked fine using exactly the same arrangement, both before and after trying unsuccessfully to run the projector. There was one split second where a poor and defective representation of the screen appeared, but that was all. The problem was not a bad HDMI socket on the projector; I tried both HD...
Cons: The first one worked for about 3 weeks. I turn it on, it doesn't throw any light. I called viewsonic support, the rep tells me to unplug the power from the projector and hold the power button for 30 seconds, that did nothing. I got an RMA on the second call, the rep tells me it sounds like a bad power supply.(I'm thinking, yeah right, it's just the bulb.) I returned the projector. The projector's RMA status stayed at "in-repair" for about a month/month and a half. I c...
Cons: Xbox played just fine. Then i got cable and got several long digital lines across the screen switched boxes. Changed hdmi to monster cable and it has latest firmware. Hopfully my new rma unit doesnt do this.
Summary: As soon as I installed this projector, I had problems with the Menu items being disabled. So when I called Viewsonic Technical support, he told there is a problem with the motherboard and I should send it to them for repair, which meant that I would have to wait for another 20 days to get it back. So went online read about it, and then figured out a way to get the menu items back to display. I was surprised that the tech could not help me with it.
Summary: It's a great projector. I'm really not happy with NewEgg for doing this twice. What a waste of our time when we've been needing this projector for business purposes for over two weeks now. This is the first time I've ever had problems with NewEgg, and am not very happy.
Pros: It is supposed to be a nice projector
Cons: TWICE now I've received this projector covered in mold. The first time I RMA'd it and asked to be sent one that has been visually inspected to not be covered in mold. The second one came covered in mold.
