Summary: I bought this projector for my home theater for around $1800 which at the time was the best internet price. I got over 8000 hours on the factory bulb and so far I'm only about 1000 hours in to the replacement. 8000 hours is A LOT for one bulb, I used it mainly in economy mode since I prefer a darker room for movies or certain TV shows anyways.
Excellent PJ, Just a couple of tricks and you're set

Summary: Ok, I'm not going to go over all of it's awesome features and great pictures because all of the guys that gave it 5 stars already mentioned it. Just go read their review. I don't have anything else different to say. Here's a little trick for the vertical banding. Go to Home Depot, Lowes or Menards. Buy yourself a little $10 timer. My 15 amp timer shuts off electricity to the PJ from 1am to 10am.
Summary: Great little auto features like lense shift and zoom. But the picture quality is POOR. Poor black levels, and a nasty tendency for vertical and horizontal BANDING! Its a hardware flaw. All 8100's suffer from it, some are significantly worse than others. I went through 4 of these models, all with banding issues.
Summary: Pros: VERY easy placement and flexibility, Sharp for a LCD projector, and motorized shift and zoom makes life sooo much easier. Plus i suffer greatly from DLP rainbow effect so LCD is a must have for me. Another thing i would like to note is that video games on this projector looks fantastic. My previous projector the HD20 was great on movies but did poor on games. Cons: Screen Door Effect is very noticeable if you are sitting within 160% of your screen size.
Summary: I bought this and the green vertical banding is terrible. I did some research and found that nearly every pj ships with this issue. Viewsonic should be ashamed to sell such bad equipment. Mine is going back...
Summary: Surprisingly durable. I heard all these things about LCD projectors losing alignment if they were bumped. [...]. Still works perfectly.I was also amazed at the ambient light performance. A thousand lumens doesn't sound like much, but on low lamp mode with a generic 106" screen this is still easily viewable. The biggest problem is getting it mounted to the ceiling; it's big and awkward.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Set Up, Good Focus, Powerful, Sharp Picture
Summary: I'm blown away by the value of this product. There is a website still selling this thing for 5k. It's much more than I expected. The actual picture is as good as my 50" plasma. Of course the blacks arent as good, but for a projector it's fantastic. It wasn't hard to setup. The remote has a backlight, very nice.
