Summary: My first observation, please be aware another ViewSonic model (7820) is virtually identical to this one, for the same price, but higher definition (true HD, at 1920x1080). However, while this model (6383) has slightly lower resolution (1024x768), it does have a network/LAN connection in back. The LAN does NOT make it a stand-alone device, but if your configuration somehow requires a LAN, stick with the 6383.
Summary: The ViewSonic PJD6383s is a short throw projector – what this means is that the projector is intended to be used only about 4 feet from the screen (for a 100” screen image). You’ll notice the main difference between this and normal projectors is the bulbous, convex lens required for near-distance image enlargement (as opposed to a focus and zoom lens on typical projectors – there is no zoom on this unit, as you will simply move the projector back to increase the image...

Summary: My brother, computer geek extraordinaire, warned me when I got this projector that it would take me hours to set up, if not days. He based this depressing assessment on his past experience with projectors. I believed him. In the interest of helping you shoppers out there, I cleared an afternoon from my schedule, unpacked this projector, glanced at a clock, and started work on setting it up. It exactly took three minutes.
Summary: ViewSonic really nailed it here. The ease of set-up and use to the clarity of image. It took about 5 minutes until I had this up and going on the Wii System, the kid's loved it. We used it on a blank white wall and got a theater experience going on Mario Kart. The image quality of this machine will be vary handy at my writing/publishing lectures, and for showing images from my Tales of Wordishure book series.
