Summary: I replaced my old movie and Netflix setup (laptop > vga cable > 800x600 SVGA data projector) with a Sony BDV-E3100 home theater system > 25ft hdmi cable > 1280x800 ViewSonic PJD5533W WXGA data projector. Boy, what an upgrade! The image of the ViewSonic is amazing. Super intense, watching in a fairly bright room during daytime is no problem, even in Eco Mode.
Summary: This projector is great. I purchased it to use for backyard movies. It works good for this. The only downside in using it for this purpose is its brightness. If you are wanting to start your movies right as the sun is starting to set, it might not be entirely bright enough. I drop it one star due to the fact that it doesn't include a carrying case. I have saved the box that it came in and I always put it back in the box for transportation and storage.
Summary: My boyfriend wanted a home theater in our basement. I didn't want to loose the space to a giant TV. This was a great solution. The image quality is far better than I expected. He's happy and I'm happy.
Summary: This projector is by far the best deal for the price. When looking for a projector I did 3+months of research trying to find the best deal and this is it. 8 Months and 1500+ lamp hours later it is still running Perfect. Unless you have an $800+ budget this is the best option for the price range. Also I was able to find 3D glasses for this projector on Ebay for $20 a piece.
Summary: This projector blew me away. For the price, I was surprised by the quality, clarity, and brightness. Overall have been very impressed. Only complaint would have to be the adjustment for increasing or decreasing screen size makes very little affect on picture size. Only ~10% difference from min to max. Not a problem for me though. Just worth mentioning.
Summary: When I bought this projector it had about 40 reviews and overall 4.5 stars. I considered the less expensive PJD5134 because it had such high ratings. But I wanted to get the best for my budget. My budget initially was $400, but I decided to dish a little more for a hopefully better projector. As soon as I powered it on I knew I made the right decision. Set up - was a breeze, plug it in, hook it up (to my PS3) and aim at a wall.
Summary: I picked this projector to use in a garage setup. Has a very good picture in the daylight and an incredible picture at night. I have a 52" LCD Flatscreen in the garage as well and at night you can hardly tell a differance in the quality of picture. For the price you can't go wrong with this projector!
Summary: Converted the garage to a game and movie room. The projector was well worth the extra 100-150 vs the cheaper models in order to get the 720p picture quality. That makes a big difference in clarity when expanded to this size. We have a standard receiver for DirecTV and I can tell you my intention now is to upgrade that receiver to HD since I can see the difference in SD vs HD at this size.
