So as far as the mass-market Japanese manufacturers are concerned, Sony now has something that can compete on level terms with JVC's highly-regarded D-ILA models. Grayscale tracking was ±1,026 degrees kelvin of the 6,500-K standard from 20 to 100 IRE — a poor performance level. I had a Sony VPL-HS51 for three years, replaced the lamp twice and no problems. Even though the HS51 is only 720p, it is an excellent starter projector for home theater. But like most home theater owners, I was looking to upgrade to 1080p. Since the HS51 worked so well, I decided to stay with a Sony. The VW200 seems to be Sony's top of the line, but this was out of my price range. Local demos of the VW60 showed excellent the color, sharpness and advanced features. The... Read more

"This is the best projector out there for the price. Don't waste your money on the $15,000 sony. You won't be able to tell the difference in picture. I have this set up in my dedicated theater and everyone is amazed by the picture quality. I have an upconvert DVD and direct tv hooked up to it with an hdmi cable and it looks beautiful. Can't wait to get that blu-ray player going to see it's full potential." Read more
