Summary: This projector has allowed me to create truly the ultimate home theater system with a 140" image in 1080p (it can go all the way to 300" but my wall would only fit 140"). easy to install and maintain. The only draw back is the 1 year warranty. This is the difference between the vpl-VW60 has a 2 year warranty but its $2k more.
Summary: Personal Experience Very nice Machine, nearly perfect picture out of the box. Deep blacks, fantastic colours, bright enough for a big screen. Much better than my former projectors sony vph 1292 and jvc d-ila G-150HT. The best point is that you can watch your movies now without projetor noise! The sony is very quiet and every movie is a HD experience! Just hook up your HD-DVD or Blu-Ray Player and enjoy your movies in perfect picture quality! Problems No problems at all!
Summary: We installed the Sony VPL-VW40 projector 2 weeks ago. Not much to adjust! Out of the box setup works just great. It projects to 125-in screen from 12 ft away and the picture looks perfect. Great projector for a great price!
Summary: every year this pjs get better and better. this one i will keep for while,it handles a 106 screen in low mode with good punch you can even have lights on dim and still enjoy.i use the user1 setting or with about 88 to 96 contrast and about 48 to 56 brightness.true the epson and panny in brightess mode will give more light output but the 40 gives a deeper picture!and looks more naturaul to my eyes.thier are better pjs but why pay $1000 more for a tiny upgrade?
Pros: Durable, Easy To Set Up, Good Focus, Sharp Picture
1080p front projection finally at an affordable price

Summary: I picked up the Sony VPL-VW40 to replace an aging 720p VPL-HS51 that has worked pretty well for over 3 years. One warranty repair was needed on the HS51 for a problem with the blue filter about a year and a half in, and it's now out of warranty and was also about due for another lamp replacement so it seemed like a good time to upgrade.
Summary: I had owned a Runco 700 prior to buying this Sony and it cost 10K. I bought it 5 years ago and had multiple problems with it. The Sony has a superior picture, has better control features, re-placement bulbs are less than half the cost of the Runco and total price was 30% of what I paid for the Runco.
Pros: Easy To Setup, Easy to use, Great picture quality, Reliable Performance
Summary: Personal Experience I have had this projector for just over a week now and have watched a movie every day. I can say that this is an awsome projector. The picture is very crisp with stunning colours. the projector sits about 1.5m above my head and I can't hear it. The projector comes with gamma correction cd so you can endlessly muck with the projectors colour settings if you feel the need. Mine was perfect right out of the box and I'm projecting it onto a painted wall.
