Summary: Personal Experience Overall it lasted 6 years with minimal use (used for teaching sessions of 2 hours twice per week, plus watching Wimbledon tennis finals each year). Problems Eventually the power source became unreliable (perhaps a fuse has blown?).....never had to replace lamps though!
Summary: Personal Experience This projector is awesome, gaming on it is frickin sweet. DVD playback and Cable TV looked great on it too. I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a projector for their home theater.
Summary: Personal Experience I bought this projector second hand and am very impressed with it. It is incredibly bright - no need to draw curtains. It is fully motorized and with the remote makes it a joy to use. The image quality is excellent if a little warm - that is not a bad thing tho.
Summary: Personal Experience After 345 hours of use, problems are happening : the lamp, or something else, is about to go, the image is continuously flickering. And dont count on Sony to help you : they will never even answer your help request.
Summary: Personal Experience We bought 10 of these projectors within one month, 4 of them had their lamps exploded. They were used on a permanent installation. In a Highly climatized Museum room at permanent 21 degrees and 45% humidity. This is a very unreliable projector. I would not reccomend. Sony has discontinued it because of this failure Problems THe Lamp will explode with very little use.
Summary: Personal Experience At current price, this is one of the best PJ for starters. The build-in video processor is a little bit low spec, hence DVD movie playback is not very good (4 star -- only for video source, 5 star for PC). LCD response time looks very low -- don't worry about fast-action movie performance. .. Yes, I use it for home cinema, and am a happy man!
Summary: Personal Experience Even though this projector is limited to SVGA resolution--I love it. The image quality is superb (much better than the Epson 53c). I am incredibly happy with this projector and would recommend anybody to purchase one. It is light, nice-looking and has great features for the money. Problems The only thing I do not like about the projector is its noise--it comes in at about 38db when on high-bright mode (with both fans running).
Summary: Personal Experience It is my first experience of the new age projectors and i must say for my limited budget the CS5 blew me away with its crisp and sharp picture even though i am using a plain white wall as a screen . The Cricket world cup is gonna be a treat to watchon this beautiful work o art. Problems I have gone through the whole manual but cant seem to find out if it is ceiling mountable. Can i tilt it downward and still hope for trouble free operation.
Summary: This projector is gorgeous!...very much part of the apple design scheme, gloss white, simple interface, motorized lens cover and motorized auto tilt( it remembers last used setting and tilt and keystone corrects to the same setting)....it is quiet but in high mode (to get the advertised 1800 lumens) the fan kicks it up and is loud. for the money this is an excellent deal...at least this month...
