  • Summary: Personal Experience The Sony VPL-BW7 is the best value in a native 720P projector available. I purchased it at a deep discount from a national retailer. I use it for movie nights with family placing the projector on a high shelf 72" (upside down)or low table 24" and project a 100" picture with the...

Not 1080p but close for the price

Christopher S., Newegg

  • Pros: Found it on clearance for half the price of a cheap 1080p projector. Picture looks very good in my dark media room.
  • Cons: For the price, I have no complaints.

  • Summary: Personal Experience Great projector although brightness could be better. Can project a very large 100"+ image that is clear but a little grainy (this was observed at atleast 120"), but is best viewed at night becuase of limited brightness.

OK, not as good as I hoped

Anonymous, Newegg
6 August 2010
  • Summary: I always hoped to find a comparison of my 5 yr old Infocus Screenplay 4805 to something a little more current. Here goes a short one: Picture: does not look any better - I think the Infocus looks better, my Son thinks the Sony does. The Sony looks 'flat' to me, no depth, black level is inferior.
  • Pros: Got it for great price. I was holding out for a 1080p, but this cost me $$ (way under a hundred) more than a new bulb for my ScreenPlay 4805 would have. At least it has a real stand-by, unlike the 4805.
  • Cons: Noisy. Flat picture - not much depth Skin-tones don't look all that natural- still adjusting, I may get there. Screen-door, fairly prominent Not much adjustment tolerance - moving the Sony a foot closer to my screen than the 4805 was - I still can't get the picture quite small enough for my 105" ...

Nothing Special

Express, Amazon
7 March 2010
  • Summary: This projector replaced my 5 year old InFocus ScreenPlay 4805, and after using it for a month, I don't consider it an upgrade. I have a dedicated theater, and was waiting for a great deal on a 1080p as a replacement for the 4805 - but I got this Sony for a 'fantastic' price, not too much more than...

Great projector for home theater

Praveen, Amazon
7 March 2010
  • Summary: I bought this projector last night and I am really enjoying it. Picture quality is good and sharp. I projected this on my apartment wall without any screen, even then quality is good and enjoying movies and tv in big screen. This has HDMI input which is giving good quality of output.

Excellent home theater projector with portability!

kk, Amazon
7 March 2010
  • Summary: This is a great little projector you can lug around to friends and family to watch movies in HD (720p and 1080i). You don't need a dark room to appreciate the picture since it has 2000 lumens brightness.

great overall 720p projector (and you can find it cheaper)

Louis Y., Amazon
7 March 2010
  • Summary: It is quiet enough, and picture is bright, it requires perfect alignment to take advantage of the full screen. Very limited adjustment / correction for picture. Picture is ok, but really great contrast and pop when you set the "bulb" to high (don't remember which option it was and it makes the...
