Summary: Personal Experience After 6 years of use I think I can have an account of the use of this product. Well, the image is very good, bright and accurate. Never had issues although I haven't used it heavily. I don't want to go into a detailed report. What matters is that after all these years I never thought about the money I spend on it. On the contrary. For the exact product I could spend more.
Summary: Personal Experience I bought my XR-11XC back in '06, initially using it for overhead PowerPoint presentations, but more recently for watching videos from my laptop or DVD player. I show them on a wall in my home theater and have been pleased with the ease of setup, crispness of the picture, and reasonable fan noise. I have two minor complaints: 1) It's a bit bulky with no easy way to carry it without a carrying case.
Summary: This is the second Sharp XR-11XC that I have owned. I am very pleased with the product. The product works great with a laptop or a DVD player. These are the only two items that I have used it with.
Summary: This is a great projector for the price that it is. It has good connections, and is of good quality. The picture could be better, but fiddling around with the settings lets you have a perfectly good 6 foot tall image. This is in the range from Computer, DVD, Digital TV, and all sorts of gaming systems (NES, SNES, N64, Playstation... I do not have the newer ones) Also this thing is very very bright!
Summary: Just a quick FYI - There is apparently a design flaw in this projector assoicated with the iris that causes the unit to start shutting off randomly and especially a few minutes after startup. It apparently starts to happen about 500 hours into the projector's use. The good news is that there's an easy fix. I just learned about it and havent' had a chance to try it yet, but there were many others in my research that reported success.
Summary: We have used this projector for a church for over a year. We set up at a local school every Sunday and use it to project the song lyrics. Picture is great. Still on the first bulb. The connections are high-tech enough for what we use it for. Be sure to get ATA style case for it to protect it.
Summary: Personal Experience Great first projector......Perfect for online gaming and Bluray Movies....Image is great when manually adjusted for each use. Preloaded user image settings not worth trying to use. It's best to tinker with the colors, contrast and brightness yourself to find the best looking image. Problems It's hard to figure out how to clean the dust from the inside.
Summary: I have had this projector for a little over a year now. My third bulb has just burned out. Don't expect to get anywhere near the advertised lifespan on your lamp. Around 800 hours is the lifespan of the bulb, and each one costs over $250. So think about it carefully. If you plan on using a projector every day, this one will cost you at least $500 / year in bulb replacements.
Summary: Personal Experience I'm wondering if all of these people who say their "projector burnt up" decided to do any research at all. Mine did the same thing, but I just looked into it a little and determined it had basically flipped a breaker or something. There is a reset button that I pushed, plugged it back in and it has been working fine since then!
