  • Summary: Personal Experience I bought a couple days ago from someone who ripped it out of a college. its had lots of hours on the bulb but the picture is still awsome. I love this thing so much the contrast and white levels are unmatched at night. this was perfect until i tried to hook up my wii to it Problems The svideo is crap. it gave me a big red outline as if the lcds wern't lined up properly in lower resolutions. i wonder if i can fix it?

  • Summary: Personal Experience I've been enjoying this big old bastid' for a year now. Bought it used for $430. For comparison I also have a 3M X50. (Specs available on this site.) I just A/B'd the image quality using my laptop running Blue Velvet on dvd, into the RGB In on the Sharp, and outputting from the Sharp into the 3M. Now keep in mind, the Sharp is a 7-9 year old unit, where the 3M is much newer.

  • Summary: Personal Experience Well to start this is a great projector. A great way to start a home theater setup, for the price you can pick one up for now you cant get much better. It is a tank.. Problems The one major problem is the balast if it dosnt power up very good chance thats it, and it will cost you the same amount you pay for the unit. other than that I would buy another.

  • Summary: Personal Experience Great, I just picked up three of these used from the UC school system for 250 each. After being beaten all to heck by the university these things are still running great and make perfect home theater projectors. Problems Some pixels blown/faded and replacement remotes and bulbs are more expensive than the whole unit. Everything but Individual color adjustment is available on these things!

  • Summary: Personal Experience Have been using this projector since it was first released in our church. Purchased the optional "long distance" lens. We project over 65 feet onto a 12' screen in a fully lit facility. Projector is very sturdy and has stood the test of being moved numerous times and use by "folks that had no idea what they were doing". Just purchased a used unit for my personal use. Looking forward to many hours of enjoyment.

  • Summary: Personal Experience This review is not enough to mention all the merits this PJ. Its simply wonderful to use and to watch. VEry versatile in mounting options but heavy. For the bulb, the lowest price one can get is just the replacement bul which sells for U$150.00 brand new. This is so because you are just buying the replacement bulb and excluding the housing. The bulb also comes with instruction on how to install it in the current housing.

  • Summary: Personal Experience For a fraction of its original price, I now have a home theater based on this projector. Its produces awesome colors, sharp and bright picture. To get the best out of it, one has to use an HTPC like I did. Windvd6, with ffdshow and theatertek are all the recommended software to use to get the best picture even the most expensive scaler/line doubler/quadrupler cant touch. Beware though, this projector is big compared to the newer compact ones.

  • Summary: Personal Experience This is one of the oldie but goodie kind of projectors. Mine have reached its lamp life but after resetting it, it is still as bright. Colors are excellent. HTPC with NVidia or Radeon AGP is recommended and tweak the gamma settings. It greatly improves its contrast to better levels. Highly recommended. Get it while you still can. Problems My S-video is producing shadow that I cannot isolate. All other inputs e.g.

  • Summary: Personal Experience the sharp is one great beast. It is big (36lbs), built sturdily, quiet, and most of all, with great picture quality, color and brightness for a 4 year old projector. It will still beat the newer ones. No one can touch is value for money if you can get it used. I got one used, which I did for U$600.00. I can get a new one, but after inspecting all current offerings, they just couldnt meet my built requirements, they all look flimsy.
