Summary: This Sharp PG-M20X may say it is only 1900 lumens, but it as bright as some 2500's. I use it as my Home Theater Projector and I'm blown away every time I use it. i was going to sell it but since I have an extra lamp and plenty of life on the lamp I currently have. It's a keeper. If you have the opportunity to buy one GET IT!
Summary: THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING PROJECTORS WITH OPTIONS GALORE. I HAVE OWNED OVER 200 AND FIND POUND FOR POUND MORE PEOPLE COMPLEMENT THE CLEAR IMAGE OVER ALL OTHERS. THIS IS OFTEN SOLD AT A GREAT PRICE UNDER IT'S VALUE AND LAMPS HAVE BECOME AFFORDABLE. THIS MAKES THIS A GOOD INVESTMENT FOR THE DEMANDING SHOPPER AT ANY PRICE.
Summary: I decided to purchase this Sharp multimedia projector because, though a few years old, it is a top of the line device. Upon arrival I tested it with my MacBook and it worked flawlessly and the image looked as crisp and sharp as the image in a move theater. It was obviously built to last and I'm confident that it will continue to work for some time. I was fortunate as this particular unit was in immaculate condition.
Summary: Personal Experience purchased for $3600.00 ran fine until just out of warranty. power suply failure with only 1100 hours on the original 2000 hour bulb. sent to sharp to get estimate (Cost me $78.00 to ship it to them). they tell me it needs new color wheel and new power supply and the estimate to get fixed would be over $900.00. ridiculous for a projector with only 1100 hours on it!!!! i will never buy sharp again....they will not support their products after warranty.
Summary: Personal Experience From the time I received this unit it has run flawlessly for almost 3 years. Never had any problems. Well worth the $. Problems Recently the lamp has been failing to come on, it took two times or so to get it to light up. The real problem is contacting Sharp. I tried a dozen times to get them on the phone then finally got through. I hope they can "Really" fix this because I now live in Germany and they cannot send to APO addresses.
Summary: Personal Experience After 4 returns to Sharp for on/off problems and finally getting management involved the unit is cranking! That is untill i tried to hook into a HDTV off a Comcast unit. Seems the projector cant handle DVI -2. Only DVI 1. Bummer. But it CRANKS off a DVD. Star Wars never looked better. And NO red problems. Problems Time for a new machine. Any takers!!!
Summary: Personal Experience Excellent. I have purchased 3 over the past 2 years for home theaters. You can't beat the quality for the price. I have paid $700-1,100 for each. I use the 100" diag. Da-Lite snap screens and the pictures are just perfect. I have only used the S-Video input. Nobody yet has asked for HDTV. Problems Auto shut off problem - just call sharp at 800-be-sharp. Tell them you have the pg-m20x and that it keeps turning on and off by itself.
Summary: Personal Experience The DVI / RGB / PC combined input is combersome and not user friendly. Replacement lamps are a bit pricey. Problems I am one of the lucky ones that has a power virus that causes the unit to quit randomly. My brand new unit now will not boot up.
Summary: Personal Experience I've been very happy with this projector. Once I got the firmware upgrade all has been well. I still think this unit represents remarkable value. My only issue with it is the noise level. I wish it were a little quieter.
Summary: Personal Experience This is my first experience with projectors and it has been a pretty good one. The intermittent shutdowns haven't happened often enough to bother me much, but man is that new bulb expensive. I am not in the mood to spend $500 on a new bulb right now (especially since the picture didn't degrade that much) so I ignored the requests it was making to replace it, but then it finally shut itself off defiantly and I can't turn it on again.
