Summary: I bought this projector 4 years ago. I am crazy when it comes to projector purchases, I used business projectors for movies at home since 1998 and eventually bought an LG projector which I loved, but the insides essentially melted when I installed its second bulb from the heat. The Sharp replaced that one, and the biggest things that drew me to Sharp was that they use lenses for keystone correction, but I quickly discovered that I couldn't afford that.
Summary: Personal Experience Bought mine 9 mths ago and have about 500 hours on it. We watch mostly HD movies and HDTV (mostly sports but some movies or shows) on it, with some regular DVDs too in our basement room. The image is consistently great, although occasionally in some scenes you can see image noise. Watching the Super Bowl or last night's game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals is stunning. Bigger really is better! We run on low power so fan noise is not an issue.
Summary: Personal Experience Good contrast--not earth-shatteringly amazing, but better than my LCD tv (using a white screen). After a quick calibration, the colors look incredibly accurate. Never noticed a hint of rainbow effect. Screen door effect is not noticeable on a 100 inch screen at 13 feet. Fairly quiet once it warms up. Plenty of brightness for a light-controlled room.
Summary: For the price this is an outstanding projector. Since I have a small room, 12 feet, the DT510 shows the biggest picture for the shortest distance. I notice no rainbow effect. The colors are brilliant. The contrast is excellent. The focus is good. You do need a dark room though. I have an LG DVD upconverting regular DVDs to 720P conected by HDMI. Keep in mind, my DT510 replaces an Epson 10+ that was failing.
Summary: Replaced a SP-4805 - had to move the ceiling mount a couple of feet forward for a light controlled 106" mate white screen. Picture is great NO SDE or rainbows The iris on high brightness really makes the screen pop even with some (20%?) ambient light I do have slight bowing but expected that as all Sharp/Marantz projs of this line have it no big deal.
Summary: I purchased one of these projectors and ended up liking it so much that I bought another one. I use one in my living room and one in my personal sports bar. It is awesome! I am amazed at how clear of a picture it produces. It is actually clearer than my 55" LCD. It only took me a few minutes to set up and has worked perfect ever since.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Good Focus, Lightweight, Sharp Picture
Summary: Upon testing, I was pretty floored by the image that this projector is capable of throwing. The image seemed to exhibit very decent black levels and overall consistent image uniformity just shining the image on the wall. The projector's short throw nature allows a pretty large image from less distance than would be required from many other projectors. Needless to say, I am so far very satisfied with this projector.
