Summary: 1st lamp still working but nevertheless replaced at 3999 hrs. At 4855 hrs the 2nd lamp died yesterday. 8854 hrs total to date.....amazing. Now running on original bulb while waiting for the new lamp to arrive. I will be upgrading when budget permits and can only hope for the same reliability.
A great little projector with great service from Sanyo

Summary: I purchased a PLV-Z5 in January, 2007, and it has been heavily used daily until May, 2012, when I obtained a Panasonic PT AE4000U. I can't say enough good things about this projector and Sanyo US in-warrany service.
Summary: Personal Experience Bought the Z-5 in November 2006. Everyday I'm still amazed at how good this projector looks. Not the greatest with SD cable, don't expect it to on a 90 inch screen. HD and games on the other hand look incredible.
Summary: Personal Experience Good picture but not very bright even in a totally dark room. I set it on the brighter settings but still in lamp eco mode in order to get the brightness up but keep the lamp lasting longer. Still, I can't complain for the price. Problems Door over lens wouldn't open.
Summary: Personal Experience I have been using this projector for more than a year and I'm very happy to have bought this projector. The image quality is simply stunning and outstanding. It delivers an impeccable and outstanding image for Cable HDTV channels.
Summary: Personal Experience After reading all the reviews on this site I decided to buy the Z-5. I'm not disappointed! This is my first projector and my learning curve for the usage was relatively short. For the price you cannot go wrong.
Summary: Personal Experience As a professional home theatre installer I have seen all types of tvs and projectors and after installing this unit for one of my recent clients I have to say that if you are on a budget and want excellent quality then this is the best unit within the 1200 dollar price range even...
Summary: Personal Experience After 1 year of usage, you know, the rest of the reviews on this page are right. In short, a fantastic projector. Great array of connections, whisper quiet, excellent picture. It's been said before, I'm repeating I know.
Summary: Personal Experience Second update to a previous post of mine.... For those of you who are pondering the idea of 1080p capability, well you will have no issues, as long as you are using the HDMI connection(s). I hooked up my Xbox 360 via HDMI to the receiver and from the receiver via HDMI to the Z5.
Summary: Personal Experience This projector is in my opinion, why I won't buy another big screen tv. This will blow the mind of even the pickiest HD theatre people. Awesome contrasts, colors are excellent in HD and regular DVD playing.
