Summary: Personal Experience I have this projector since 2008. I just buy my third lamp and the Z4 is still doing justice to my home theatre. So the reliability of the projector is awesome. I only wish it was in 1080p and has a little better contrast... This was the best purchase I did for my home theatre. Maybe next year I go for a 1080p, but all the one I saw has very loud ventilation... Problems None !
Summary: Personal Experience I've been using a used projector and haven't had any big problems with it. As it's quite old and yet classical model in it's own series, I must say I'm surprised that it still has qualities which make it work nicely even today and that I'm relatively happy with the quality of that nice good, old projector.
Summary: Personal Experience Hours on original bulb: 5141 (!) Don't know if this is an accidental feature or an engineering snafu. But when we first bought the PJ, it had a prolonged cool down period before allowing a restart.... on the order of 3+ hours. However, due to the amazing 5141 hours of use on said bulb, I am wondering if the "bug" was the source of the increased bulb life.
Summary: Personal Experience Great projector still going strong. Lamp has 4206 hours on it. I still have the free replacement bulb in the closet that came with it. Picture would probably be better with a new bulb but still runs adequate for home theater projector as far as I am concerned. Run this attached to a UPS.
Summary: Personal Experience This is my second review of Sanyo PLV_Z4 projector since December 2005. I just replaced my bulb after 3675 hours and the projector is performing very well Highly recommend this projector even at today's higher technology. If you can buy one from a reliable source, buy it! Problems None in almost 6 years!
Summary: Personal Experience After 3548 hours on the bulb, it has performed quite well - since 2006. I can say without hesitation, this was a good model. Problems A problem with extended cooling down time was determined to be a hardware fault. However, since the machine was out of warranty, it was not fixed. We just live with the three hour wait period before firing up the lamp. Who knows? Perhaps the extended cool down preserved the lamp...
Summary: I purchased my PLV-Z4 from another online retailer and I have been absolutely pleased with the performance and bulb life. I've been running it for almost 3 years now and my only issue was that the lamp ballast blew out, but because of their 3 year warranty, I had it out and back within a week at no charge.
Summary: Personal Experience I've been using my Z4 for almost 2years and just clicked over 1500 hours use and it does not do anything different from the first hour of use. It's fantastic. Icouldn't of asked for anything more from my first Home projector.
Summary: Personal Experience I used this projector for 1 year as a dedicated home cinema device. Now I upgraded into Sanyo PLV-Z2000, hence a very interesting conclusion: the PLV-Z4 machine is a really strong unit! It cannot challenge the PLV-Z2000 of course, but taking into consideration its price and features it presents a really good value for the money.
