  1. Sanyo PLV-Z2000 1080p LCD Projector

    Reviewer: UltimateAVmag.com

Going into this review I wasn't sure what type of image to expect from a "budget" 1080p projector. While the image produced is quite acceptable, there are a few shortcomings that I found. Most notable was light output that wasn't quite as bright as I was used to. The trade off though is that the Z2000 is much quieter and the light spill into the room was non-existent. The documentation left a little to be desired, the build quality isn't as robust as more expensive PJs,... Read more

The Sanyo PLV-Z2000 is a big box that delivers an even bigger picture. Images were crisp, set-up was easy and the gaming and TV viewing fantastic. Despite the size issue, it is one of the best performing projectors on the market under $2500. Read more

We’ll be doing another head to head with the 1080UB vs the Sanyo PLV-Z2000. This will be an apple to apple comparison, given that both units with feature the newest technology. Given the exceptional performance of the non UB 1080 compared to the Sanyo PLV-Z000, we can’t help but look forward to even better performance from the 1080UB. Bear in mind that this comes at a significantly higher price tag. Epson will continue to make the 1080 available after release of the... Read more

Pros: Sharp picture, somebody complain about using it on low light condition. For me, after adjust all settings, I can use it even at daytime. But I do have a high gain screen. Cons: Most time I connect it to my HTPC for DVD and movies, but sometime I can't get 4:3 or 2.35:1 ratio. No matter what I change. Maybe b/c my PC, not sure about this. Read more

I had a trigger to buy a full 1080p PJ under $2k and finally PLV-Z2000 has arrived. Lens shift is an awesome feature if you want some flexibility in positioning. The fan is absolutely silent. It sits 2 feet behind me and I can't hear any noise. The only note of caution - the lumens are very low, so this PJ is for dedicated home theater only. The next unit to look at would be Panasonic AE2000U. But it's 40% more expensive and has a lesser warranty. After a 2 month of... Read more

20 foot throw distance, 120" diagonal motorized screen (cheap), Directv HD DVR HR20, XBox360, Playstation 3. I haven't seen some of the upper end units. I used to have an Infocus X1 and loved it. This picture is so much better and even brighter than I would have expected considering all of the reviews I read. The unit is super silent - can barely tell it's on. Even before tuning with my Ovation DVD the picture was super nice. I hadn't planned on buying a 1080p projector,... Read more

This is a fantastic home theater projector. We have had it for 2 years and use it for movies, directv and video gaming. We have a dedicated room with 1 large window which has a shade that pulls down. Opposite the window, we have a 3/4 wall with openings (shades available) in order to watch while eating or playing billiards. The picture is amazing and even with the 3/4 wall open and recessed lighting on in the adjoining room the picture is great. The unit is very, very... Read more
