Summary: Buying experience taught me a lot about buying used projectors! The unit was sold as having a "bright picture". Projector was received unpacked and hooked up in my theater. I could hardly wait to view after all the great things I read on the internet about this unit. Initial reaction was boy did I get taken...you could barely see the picture on the screen in an unlit room..
Summary: Personal Experience I installed the PLV-70 for a customer in a room with a great deal of ambiant light. The picture is great. Overall, good picture but major problems with the lamp. Problems The client is currenly about to replace their 4th lamp in 2 1/2 years. Maximum lamp life has been 800 hours. I just spoke to Sanyo and they say that is about average to good for the life of a lamp. I think they are crazy at $400/lamp. My client is not very happy.
Summary: Personal Experience I've had this projector for 4 years now and replaced the bulb two years ago because of poor ventalation, this thing is awesome never any problems and now that HDTV is widely availiable its even better.
Summary: Personal Experience My projector has been great. One dead pixel, but I can live with it. I've had it for 3 years and never had to change the bulb. Problems Yesterday when I turned it on, it turned itself off after about 10 seconds. I called sanyo and they said to try changing the bulb. At $400 I'm not too keen to experiment. Anyone have any ideas?
Summary: Personal Experience I have owned this projector for over two years and still have yet to replace the bulb. If installed properly and maintained, you should have no problem with bulb life. Picture is great, easy to use, and overall a great projector. Problems None.
Summary: Personal Experience I absolutely love my PLV-70 projector. I built a home theater with a 93" Da-Lite screen permanently mounted about 14 feet away and the picture is awesome. I use the Sony DirecTv HD receiver and the HD pictures are outstanding, espicially games shown on ESPN HD. I bring over my buddies and they are in awe at the quality of the picture. The color is great and the brightness is unreal.
Summary: Personal Experience I actually found a leftover Studio Experience edition of this model. The projector is bright as promised. HD movies look superb - I couldn't see screen door at 90" screen size. Problems The only disappointment was a noticable loss of quality when scaling my laser discs, stardard def sattelite, and interlaced dvd. I solved this with a DVDO iscan HD.
Summary: Personal Experience Extremely poor bulb life and bulb warranty. I am about to order my 4th bulb in 26 months of use. On e lamp lasted 150 hours another 300. At $450 each and only a 30 day warranty, this Sanyo product sucks. I have read posts of other PJ manufacturers who work with you on lamp replacement, but, Sanyo will not! Problems Extremely poor bulb life and bulb warranty.
Summary: Personal Experience I have owned this projector for 2 years, one dead pixel, was repaired in 6 days, and have never had to replace the bulb once. This unit is not meant to be placed in warm areas, and smokers. If this unit is used properly,it works perfect. DLP machines can not come close to the resolution and color image of this unit. I have installed 13 different projectors for now, and this is the best projector out there for under 12K.
