Runco Q-750i LED DLP Projector

Sound & Vision Magazine
15 August 2010
  • Excerpt: Digital projection is finally digital. Yes, we’ve been looking at projected images made of discrete pixels created by digital imaging chips for the last decade or so. But in one essential aspect, digital projection has remained in the analog domain. The lamps that drive light through these projectors and onto our screens have been 100-percent analog. Even when they’re new, the performance of these lamps can adversely affect color fidelity, gamma, and gray-scale tracking.

  • Conclusion: Runco’s brand-new Q-750i demonstrates that LED projectors can compete with the best in terms of picture quality — as long as you adjust the colours correctly. Besides the massive price, the noisy fan and limited brightness spoil the fun slightly. The Q-750i uses DLP technology from Texas Instruments, and has no direct lamp cooling fan or colour wheel. But, at 30 decibels, it’s still astonishingly loud — louder, in fact, than most conventional projectors.
  • Pros: Great colours, adjustable colour temperature., Extremely contrast-rich, uniform images., Superb de-interlacing., Long expected lifetime for the LED technology., Excellent user manual., Special lenses available to order.
  • Cons: Imperfect presets., Loud fans., Very expensive., Impractical lens shift., Lacks motion enhancement., Slight colour fringing., Limited brightness.

  • Excerpt: Well, being a Runco projector, a lot of things are different. But the particular and special thing here is the lamp. It doesn’t use a UHP (Ultra High Pressure) lamp. It doesn’t use any kind of filament-based lamp at all. Instead it uses LEDs. Runco uses light-emitting diodes, which it calls RGB InfiniLight LEDs. These clearly have a number of advantages — and one potential disadvantage — compared to conventional lighting technology.

Runco QuantumColor Q-750i: LED-Beamer für 16.000 Euro

netzwelt
4 August 2010
