Summary: We've had this projector since 2007 and it now has almost 940 hours on the lamp. We have had no problems with the projector. It was purchased on a military installation in northern Japan and survived the move to the US and a second move in the US.
Summary: I bought this projector back in 2006 and it has been a great projector. I am on my third bulb and every bulb lasted righ at about 3000 hours. The screen I have is 180" and the picture is great. The only problem I have had with it is just like several people described. After about 3 years when I would turn it on after about 3 minutes it would turn off and the power light would turn yellow.
Summary: I have had the Pt-Ax 100u for about 3 years now, and I have had the same problem with the iris that several others have commented on. Panasonic was no help and wanted loads of money to repair the unit. Of course, it was out of warranty as well! So instead, I did a google search and found several home "fix-it" solutions. Basically, the iris mechanism has to be re-lubed with some oil after about 2 years of use.
Summary: I have this projected to a 12 foot picture. I prepared the wall with goo paint. I has as sharp as a pictuer as I have seen on any home theater.
Pros: Great picture, easy to mount, easy to use, never have to mess with the settings
Cons: After about 1 year the projector started to shut down afert I would turn it on. It turned out to be a common problem and was covered by warentee. I had to send it in and they sent it back. I was with out a projector for about 2 weeks.

Summary: Personal Experience After extensive research and reading of reviews, I chose the PT-Ax100U based on value for the buck. I've had it for 2 weeks and am very satisfied. I'm charging the neighbors $9.50 to see movies at my place. Problems Yes. Bad picture right out of the box. Got it exchanged from vendor and all is great now.
