Summary: Incredible projector! Super high resolution, really bright, good black levels, quiet. I think I had this project on roughly a 20 foot screen and it still looked great--ideal for a home theater. I've been using for about 4 years now.
Summary: Phenomenal picture! So glad we got this! It's definitely bigger than the newer ones on the market, but it's above our heads and basically out of sight so it's no problem. The picture quality is one I have never seen before.
Summary: I replaced my Panny AE900U with this. I love the features this 2D unit offers. I don't think I will ordering another projector any time soon. Next time, the reason will be to go to 3D, but I have a 73 inch Mitsubishi for that purpose. For 2D, you can't buy better than this 4000U unit. Roger
Great projector. Definetly great value for the money.

Summary: Very happy with the Panasonic PT-AE4000U. The colors are very vibrant with the red-rich lamp. The picture is excellent, I have compared this to other units by JVC, Mitsubishi and Sony. This is an older unit by Panasonic which is at a very good price point if you not want 3-D.
Summary: I have owned this projector since it's launch in 2009 and have had it for not quite 2 and a half years. I have been really happy with it. I will break down my review into three different sections below, features, picture and reliability.
Summary: Personal Experience This was upgrade to earlier version of Panasonic PT-AE900U. Instead of replacing lamp, sold old one and upgraded. This is excellent projector with latest inputs. I have been using since 2009 and watched hundreds of movies and played games.
Summary: Amazing picture, absolutely no screen door effect. I upgraded from a Sony vpl-aw15 and it is a huge difference. Very happy with this panny. I walked up to the screen and you can not see the pixels at all. It is much brighter than I expected too.
Summary: If you don't really want a 3D projector, It's hard to beat the PT-AE4000U for picture quality, black levels, and overall value. This replaced my AE900U and if it is anywhere near as durable and reliable as that projector, it will be in my home theater for years to come.
Summary: Personal Experience We have had this projector for several months, replacing a Sharp XZV10000 which was eating light bulbs. Even though we paid 3 times more for the Sharp, the Panasonic has a much better picture--partly from new developments in the 6+years we had the Sharp, I'm sure.
