Summary: Personal Experience my experience has been very good with this projector. I would recommend it to people who are dealing with ambient light. I dont like to be in the dark all the time and it gives you that flexibility. the unit is big but really ... who cares. once its installed it doesnt really matter. it seems to be well constructed. I'm surprise by the few reviews who had issues because i saw elsewhere that those were one of the most reliable projectors.
Excerpt: I just purchased and installed this projector in our bonus room/home theater. The room is very bright during the day which has been a problem with my previous projector when watching sporting events on the weekend. This projector easily overcomes the ambient light with just simply pulling the shades in the room to cut down on the direct sunlight. And the performance at night without excess light in the room is even better.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Plenty Bright, Sharp Picture
Excerpt: I have been using the PT AR-100U for the last 2 years and all I can say is "what a product". This is the best Panasonic projector in its series available. The performance is superb and the picture output is mind blowing. Have been watching all the World Cup matches on it and loving every moment.I was lucky to purchase it for $ but even at the current price it's a great deal.I would recommend this to everyone. Go for it.
Pros: Clear Sound, Contrast Ratio, Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, Good Remote, Intuitive Controls
Excerpt: The picture quality for the cost on this projector is excellent. Our previous projector had vertical and horizontal lens shift, so that was a requirement so we wouldn't need to move mounts and existing cabling. This was the only product at a reasonable cost with those features. We weren't disappointed. Even in a room with a lot of ambient light, the picture is clear. Would highly recommend.
Excerpt: I bought my projector about a year ago from B&H photo. My projector is about 14 foot from my screen. I have a light gray pull down screen (92" diagonal). The picture in medium and low light conditions is spectacular. This projector replaced my old PT700. There is no comparison between the two. This one is in a whole different league. I would suggest not using the projector as an alternate for your computer monitor.
Excerpt: I just installed the Panasonic PT-AR100U in my basement & am pleasantly surprised by it. I have long debated about whether to buy a large (75" - 80") flat panel TV or a projector. I feared that I would not be happy with the picture quality of any projector that was reasonably priced. On the flip side, I feared that I wouldn't be satisfied with only a 75" or 80" flat panel. I know, I know, who wouldn't be satisfied with a TV that size, right?
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Great picture quality, Intuitive Controls
Summary: Before this projector I went through 6 Epson 8350 projectors, all with mechanical failures . This is slightly more expensive than the Epson 8350 but the features are worth the price. I have over 1500 hours now and can't complain, it's always delivers. It even handled a 12hr LOTR extended marathon without any issues. It's a massive projector with plenty of fans for cooling. I only run it on eco-mode to keep the fan noise down, and to extended bulb life.
