Summary: I was looking for a Projector and came across this one. Well to make a long story short save your money and buy a REAL Projector !! For the money, you get what you pay for. This thing is a toy !!!
Summary: I've used this projector several times for slideshows at birthday parties. A microphone has to be used up to the speaker because the sounds is so quiet. I wish I had bought a projector that has a headphone jack so that an external speaker could be used.
Summary: I voided the warranty on mine immediately by hacking the unit, stripping out the cheesy micro-speaker and replacing it with a 3.5 mm audio jack crammed into the same spot (a delicate operation, may I say). I can now use it with earbuds or an external speaker. Why didn't they do that to begin with?
Pros: Very small, very lightweight, very compact. Lots of adapters for various inputs. Sharp image, focus control. Has ability to play AVI video (320x200), show JPEG images loaded onboard, or show video from external sources. Video converter software seems to work ok to render video compatible with uni...
Cons: 10 ANSI lumens means "lights-off" operation, kind of like the old 8mm home movie projectors, but not as bright. The internal speaker is an absolute joke, tiny, tinny, and very low volume even when on high (and distorted at that), why even bother. No audio out capability, so you can't use headphon...
Summary: I was very excited to receive the Optoma after comparing to the Cinemin which is a lot tlarger and heavier. The Optoma is thinner than a deck of cards, easiler fits in your shirt pocket by comparison the Cinemin looks like a brick.
Pros: outstanding image quality up to 50 mini form factor rugged construction rechargeable battery complete with VGA cable and USB cable sets. The unit looks brand new you will never know it is factory refurbished.
Cons: could be a bit brighter, but on par with all other minis in this class
Summary: After the "gee whiz" novelty of this projector fades, you'll discovery it's not really good for anything. It's not bright enough to watch movies even in a dark room, it doesn't work with an iPad, and the battery only lasts a little over an hour.
Summary: the good: great toy to impress the kids the bad: optoma customer service, quality, brightness, marketing as this is not for business really this can not be used for presentation UNLESS it is late at night and there is zero light.
Summary: I really get into Electronics. I purchased this Optoma PK102 in 12/09 and have had some fun displaying images and videos on different surfaces and watching movies (via a Laptop) on an outside screen. The issues I have deal with the design.
