Summary: It's a great projector, lumens is perfect even in lighted areas, it's small and compact, I have it installed in my home theater which has a 120" screne, the colors are bright and crisp and contrast is great, the DLP factor makes the difference, I trust Optoma since my lcd projector a Optoma 1691 model is also a very good projector. The reason that I switched to the ML 500 was for its led capability which extends lamp life for years to come.
Summary: This is my third projector. My previous two being an Optoma ML500 and an ASUS B1M. I had sold the ML500 because the fan was very noisy, and some movies played from USB with noticeable delays. I purchased ASUS B1M seeing its 700 lumen rating and got it for an offer during Thanksgiving. The ASUS B1M was silent, ran cool. But it didn't justify the 700 lumen it claimed. ML500 seemed better to me considering the color performance and movie performance.
Summary: We have a boat and we use this to show movies from my iPad. It is very bright and works well even if it is in a room with some light. I would recommend that you buy the portable Bose speaker. The sound from the unit is poor and if you are watching movies the Bose is really good to add to the projector. Works we'll in meetings hook to a laptop for multi media presentations. Very small and light so when I travel it fits easily into my travel bag with my iPad or laptop.
