Summary: I have used this projector on the road quite a bit. It's a great size, fits in my suitcase and does a great job presenting. Even in conference rooms without blinds and sunlight, you are still able to see the image quite well. A couple of my clients have asked me about the projector and I have recommended it to them. I would definitely buy this projector again! I love how well it works and how easy it is to setup. I've used it for all day sessions lasting 8 hours plus.
Summary: Beautiful picture, even during daylight hours entering the room! The quality out of such a small package and price is just awesome! It does have speakers in it as well, but they are not the greatest, they would suffice for a presentation but not for watching movies, I would deffinatley suggest an actual sound system for using this for movies, but the picture quality is outstanding!
Summary: Purchased in January 2012 from Amazon, and paid 587.99. Item description is clear that it does not have an audio output, so I knew this when I bought it. Over this long-term use, the main hassle I've had with the device is a lack of an audio output jack when I'm using the HDMI input. An earphone jack would be perfect for this. I knew it didn't have it, but this missing element became a bigger hassle than I had originally envisioned.
Summary: I bought this projector this year Jan. It is giving me hard time to connect to laptops. It regularly gives message "scanning" ,scans all ports HDMI,VGA and gives black screen. It was giving problem from first day but i thought it has loose connection so i ignored. Then I changed the HDMI cable used Apple HDMI cable but problems persist. Now problem became worse enough and it takes 15-20 min. to start projector.
Summary: I use projectors for art installations, where they need to be on all day. I have used this one for 3 or 4 exhibits in the past few years, each 1 to 2 months long, and in the last one, it kept shut itself of randomly a few times. After a while, the staff got annoyed with troubleshooting it, and that particular artwork was out of commission. This kind of issue would not affect most people, but in my case, it is a reason not to buy more of these or similar models.
Summary: This thing is amazing. Lasts forever, super bright, throw distance is spectacular. LED means you won't have to spend $200 a year to replace a bulb. My ONLY complaint is no audio out port, which can be a bit limiting if you're planning to use it for a home theater setting. However, the new 800 Lumens model does have this, so may have to upgrade sometime soon. That said, no regrets about having this bad boy for a couple years now.
Summary: The projector displays a brilliant image and its small size made it very easy to mount on the ceiling; although, at about 320 hours of use, the main board went out. Unfortunately, unlike most of optoma's products, this projector only has a one year warranty. $335 is how much it cost to repair, and the customer support at optoma is one of the most painful things I have ever had to endure over the phone. It took over two weeks just to get a service request.
