You should be in no doubt, though, that while not flawless, the HD80's images are still satisfying enough to justify the DLP unit's aggressively competitive price tag. Read more

Optoma HD80

We’re a bit disappointed in this projector - not from the standpoint of its high visual performance, but due to a lackluster performance “out of the box” that requires either a lot of time and patience or a professional installer in order to gain the type of quality image the projector is capable of putting out. Also for the majority of users, the positioning limitations of the projector could be a deal breaker. But once you get past this bugaboo, you’ve a high-end 10... Read more

Optoma HD80 1080p DLP Front Projector
Reviewer: soundandvisionmag.com24 October 2007Despite its lack of installation features, as the first 1080p DLP front projector to dip below $3,000, Optoma's HD80 has set the bar high. Its exceptionally good color and crisp, bright, punchy picture are qualities I'd expect from projectors priced many thousands of dollars higher. The Optoma HD80 1080p DLP front projector is one I'd be thrilled to have installed permanently in my home. And at $2,699, I might just be able to afford it. Read more

Review: Optoma HD80 1080p Projector
Reviewer: e-gear.com31 August 2007After I had spent time tweaking the picture settings, I played a series of high definition and standard definition sources. Through a PlayStation 3 and a Toshiba XA2 I viewed a variety of 1080p/24fps material and all looked fantastic. HDTV 1080i content from my Verizon FiOS TV receiver also came across beautifully. The first thing I noticed was the extremely impressive back levels—this projector really knows how to make blacks (or more precisely, it knows how to not s... Read more

On occasion we find projectors that represent a substantial leap forward in price performance, setting a new image quality standard for a given price range. The Optoma HD80 is one of these rare machines. At an official estimated street price of $2,699, it delivers a remarkable 1080p image that will undoubtedly affect the price structure of the competition in the months to come. It does not have anywhere near the installation flexibility of its competitors, so it takes... Read more

A great projector
Reviewer: KevinPv, Bestbuy10 September 2007- Overall 10

"I bought the HD80 after doing extensive research. The main things that swayed me to make the purchase were the 1300 Lumen brightness ability and the 10000:1 contrast ratio. Also, it has 2 HDMI inputs so I use 1 for PS3 (which is the most amazing thing ever) and 1 for cable TV. The picture of this projector is amazig. I did not thing that a projector could produce this quality of HD. I am shooting it onto a Optoma 92in Greywolf II fixed screen. The darks are amazing. ... Read more
