Summary: I have Previously owned 720P Acer Ph530. It died after 2 years of pretty heavy use and I waited for a good price on something comparable. The HD700X is essentially the HD65 with slightly lower lumens and a little less contrast. That being said, If you are watching at night or a light controlled environment, this PJ has plenty of brightness for whatever size screen you want to throw at it. I recommend building one from Durotherm plastic wall board from Menards.
Summary: This is my first home projector- I like a projector which I use at work daily, an old Epson projector that in my view works great. I wanted to find something similar for a reasonable price. The Optoma HD700x was a great choice for the price, given the quality of image you get. Here is what I like and dislike about the HD700x: I LIKE the HDMI input: I bought a projector screen based paint for my wall and it really enhances the image quality I get from the Optoma, good...
Summary: As with "Nice Jeff", I upgraded to the Optoma HD700X 720P Home Theater Projector, Black from the InFocus 4805, which needed an expensive bulb replacement. Hooked up to my Oppo 980, the picture is a very noticeable step up from 480p (it oughtta be!). Again, the only caveat is a bit more fan noise than I would prefer, but certainly not enough to ruin our movie-viewing experience (and certainly not as much as the 4805 had).
Summary: Wow, no reviews on this! Ok, so I have not bought it from here, but I do own one of these. First of all, features, tech and the like 3 stars and the price, one extra star. So, this product is great, with drawbacks obviously. 1. I think it is really light compared to many other projectors of the same features and so makes it easier to carry around. 2. I live in a dorm, so the brightness is less of a problem, but obviously during the day time, you will be out of luck.
Summary: I am very glad I bought this projector. I had it since 2008. I use it exclusively to watch movies and been working perfectly since. There only one option that is missing unfortunately.: if you want to put it somewhere high above your head you have to put it upside down ... it's a minor inconvenience if you look at the value of the product as a whole.
Summary: Pondered long and hard about what to buy - a bigger TV (I currently own a 28" CRT), or a projector. This bad boy was what I went for. Now don't get me wrong, the projector is tip top. Small, light(ish), and threw a cracking clear image from a 360 onto my wall. BUT (and here's my word of warning), I would think again about buying ANY projector if your room is small to medium in size.
Summary: Bought from Amazon and arrived very quickly and undamaged. Set up was easy and mounted on a ceiling bracket with a 10m HDMI lead to the blueray player. Negatively - small amount of rainbow effect (but only if you look for it), not a quiet as a whisper but when watching a good movie, you do not notice it. positive - Start up is quick and on screen menu is easy and can adjust the side walls to be straight very easily.
Summary: I find this a very good value for money projector. Bright with good detail and colour. Easy to use and change settings if required. Only thing I can think negative about it is the occasional rainbow effect. I am not sure of the colour wheel speed, it must just be a 2x or 4x as the rainbow is more noticeable compared to my old 6x speed optoma projector. Anyway still a good projector and a good buy if on a budget.
