Summary: I sparingly used this optoma for 9 months. Meaning I would use this maybe an average of 3 hours per week for 9 months. Suddenly, it reads FAN LOCKED SHUTTING DOWN. One month later, I had a wedding to use this projector for a slide show. The same day I went to church to borrow the church's optoma projector, and I was told it died that same day! for the same reason! (which is no reason at all except product breakdown. wtf is fan locked?
bad product, over heats and fail after 20 minutes of use

Summary: I purchased this to put into my home theater build project. I have yet to complete my home theater room and so haven't use the projector much more other then test mounting and seeing what works best for my setup. Well, after less then 20 minutes of usage, both the temp light and lamp light turns red on the projector and the picture starts to walk up and down on my screen. I turn the unit off and after a while tried to turn it on again but all I get is a blue screen.
Summary: it was a good projector for about 2months. I bought it to use n Iraq one day it just stopped working thought it was the lamp because the fan turned on but not the light. After a week of it not working i shipped it home. THE WARRANTY DOSE NOT COVER PROJECTOR LAMPS. When i got home it worked but 15min later it over heats n shuts off. DON'T BUY.
Summary: I couldn't be more disappointed with the Optoma HD65. My Panasonic PT-AE700 LCD projector began a rapid decline after only 3000 hrs (and a $300 bulb replacement) due to it's poor optical block design and the dreaded blue blob that eventually covered the entire screen. After being burned by organic LCD technology I decided to switch to DLP.
Summary: The picture quality is great and it's lightweight, blah blah blah blah blah... It all means nothing if THE $400 BULB ONLY LASTS TWO WEEKS! Thank God it was within 30 days of purchase and Amazon replaced the unit without any problems but when it gets to day 31 on this replacement unit I'M GOING TO WORRY ABOUT IT WORKING EVERY TIME I TURN IT ON. I'm so disappointed after waiting so long to be able to afford this.
Summary: The picture is excellent... WHEN IT'S WORKING. I have had the projector for 2 months. It has be out of service for half that time. Customer service (which doesn't even give the option to talk to someone on a phone, everything is e-mail) ignores requests. Fair to say that the actual repair time was quicker than e-mail communication leading up to the repair.. They make you pay for shipping... which if you want to insure is costly.
Summary: I bought this projector about a month ago. The price was incredible. Within a week after roughly watching 5 movies when pressed on button to turn the projector on the blue screen came on and the next thing it said "Warning Fan Locked" and turned off automatically. Apparantely the HD65 does this a lot. I found on some forums that people had the same problem. I've emailed optoma with the issue and still no word back.
Summary: Before purchasing this projector I compared it to other models including other Optoma models. It met my needs - component video for now and hdmi for the future. I previously had a MovieTime 10 so I've gotten used to the big screen especially for watching movies as I enjoy watching my large collection on the big screen with digital sound.
Unreliable projectors, terrible after sales service

Summary: The quality of the image is great, but unfortunately these projector quickly develop a number of problems. Our unit is 3 years old and has been broken 3 times already. 1. The ventilation of the unit doesn't seem to be well designed and it's easy for dust to enter the lens and color wheel, making the image flicker and the colors unstable.
