The HD65 is an HD-ready home cinema projector from Optoma that is compact and lightweight. Available in a white color with silver and black trim, the projector measures 10.2 x 2.9 x 7.4 inches (W x H x D) and weighs approximately 4 pounds. The Optoma HD65 uses a 1.1x manual zoom lens and DLP display technology.

The HD65 is HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection System) compliant and outputs pictures at a native resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (720p) at an aspect ratio of 16:9. In addition to its native output, the HD65 also supports resolutions of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. From a throw distance of 4 feet to 33 feet, users can expect projection image sizes of 2.2 feet to as large as 29 feet.

Video inputs offered by this Optoma projector include HDMI, composite video, VGA, S-Video and component video. The HD65’s HDMI port is compliant with the HDMI version 1.3 specifications.

The projector uses a 180 watt lamp with a rated life of 2000 hours when the lamp is used in full power and up to 3000 hours in low power mode. Brightness level is listed as 1600 ANSI lumens while contrast ratio is rated at 3000:1 (typical). With the HD65’s AI (Artificial Intelligence) switched on, the contrast ratio can be set as high as 4000:1.

Additional features of the projector include Optoma Colour Enhancement Technology and vertical keystone correction of +/- 40 degrees.

The standard package ships with a wireless remote control, a lens cap and 6 foot component cables. The HD65 also has a security lock slot but the security cables are an optional purchase.

    "I would toatlly recommend this projector to someone. My family bought one for our media room, and we put the optoma projector up and were very pleased. We got the projector first to see how big of a screen we should get, and we found out that it best fits a 120" diagnoly screen! While we were waiting for the screen to come in, we put the projector and played it up against a brown wall and it was crystal clear even on the brown wall. We even had to turn the brightness...     I replaced a Mitsubishi 57' 1080p DLP with this projector. The picture is not quite as bright as the 57', but is still very good. I am currently viewing a 110' picture on a white wall, but I'll be making it gray. By inserting sheets of gray paper on the wall I can see the improvement in the contrast with gray. Even at this size image, it is still crisp. Overall, the picture definitely has the WOW factor. I am only using HDMI, so I can't comment on the other input... Read more
