Summary: I read so many good reviews that I was certain that I am buying a good product, but it has been less than 6 months and it's already dead. I had a much cheaper HP projector that lasted more than 5 years. I think the bulb went out. I used it only couple of hours per week so not sure how the bulb can go out so quickly. I think I might have received a returned/used product since the packaging tape looked like had been opened and re-applied.
Summary: This is the first projector I've ever owned and after using it for about 4 months now, it's awesome. Even at 120" the picture is incredible. Not too noisy and was easy to set up. The one thing to watch for is since this is a DLP based projector, at times I can see kind of a sparkly effect when the brightness is too high. I could also see this on a DLP based big screen I had a couple years ago.
Summary: WOW. I cannot say enough good things about this projector.. I have a 123" screen and the image is BRIGHT and beautiful. I also use the 3D sometime and its amazing. You wont regret buying this.
Can a first time projector owner hit a home run on his first at bat? An Optoma HD33 review.

Summary: First off, I have to come clean ......not only have I never reviewed a projector before, this is the first projector I've ever owned. And while I try to keep myself abreast of the newest info, trends, and technology that floods the AV market, by no means am I professional. So if you are looking for tech specs, industry jargon, or someone with a time tested trained eye that can decent the slightest bit of variance in the black levels, then I'm not your man.
Summary: I bought this projector in the middle of last year replacing an Epson 6100. This is my fourth projector, the first being a Sony 720p CRT, the second an HP6120 720p DLP I bought new and the third the Epson 1080p LCD that I bought used. The HD33 out preforms the Epson in every way but the black level and then only marginally. The super sharp picture and vivid color are great for my Home theater with a totally light controlled room that was a former bed room only 12 x 12.
Pros: Very sharp, excellent color control,FI,outsanding 3D with RF,IR or DLP link for glasses and reliable proformance.
Cons: Average 2D, poor black level, no lens shift, DC2 and no iris
Summary: I thought I had an issue with my AV receiver, the sound would play but no picture via the projector. After a couple of painful weeks I figured out it was the projector. Optima makes you pay for the shipping to have it fixed! No good. Now guess what? It is not working again, not sure why but I am not looking forward to this process again. The picture is really good but I would not buy it had I known the issues I was going to have.
Summary: I was a little scared to drop this kind of money on something I was unfamiliar with, mainly projectors themselves... But this is exceptional at the 84" screen size I am utilizing. Clarity is beyond expectation and the colors pure. I already had Avengers 3D from a combo pack and was in awe when I fired it up. I ordered a second set of glasses already. I have had it installed less than three days and have already ordered four more 3D movies and search for more Blu rays.
Summary: This projector is just plain sick!! You will never see a display like this in a projector and I had many projectors I had a optoma hd70, hd20, Mitsubishi hc3800 witch was one of my favorites. I also had a epson 6500ub and a optoma gt750e and the hd33 is by far the best out of all of them.
