Summary: I use this thing daily so far so good been 10 months and no problems. Can not be mounted in the corner of a room though has to be middle only keystones the left and right edges to go from a square shape to more of a triangle to compensate for elevation... not from left to right though.
Summary: I have owned this Projector for 2 years and have managed to rack up almost 7000 hours on the original lamp in eco mode. While the dark scenes can be overly dark it don't impact viewing of any normal or bright scenes. I love watching a high bit rate blu-ray on this. Even 720p sources such as those downloaded from amazon look great on this. Outside of the dark scenes the picture is great and I really enjoy watching on a 92" screen and hope to go bigger some day.
Pros: Cheap compared to a much smaller lcd tv, easy to take outside for some backyard viewing
Cons: Dark scenes are too dark even in a perfectly dark room, Fan is noisy in normal lamp mode
Amazing for price, but needs better video processor/blacks/controls

Summary: Amazing for the price. If want to get critical I'd say I wish it had better blacks. Wishing for too much for the price, I guess. After adjusting w/ color bars and balance, this projector has problems with low contrast in combination with darkness. It seems it has problems w/ poorly lit scenes and can't hold it's own very well (it turns muddy gray in the picture at this point). The color needs more variable control. The controls seem to sensitive for their own good.
Summary: As a commercial integrator, I work with projectors of varying makes and models on a daily basis, everything from $400 K-12 junk to $5K+ fixed installation projectors, and I am pleased to say that the Optoma HD 20 is right up there with some of the better projectors I have ever installed. For a 1080p projector in the sub $1K range nothing else out there touches it.
Summary: I have been using this projector for a year now and very much like it, excellent value! I am projecting on a 120" screen and everyone who sits down to watch is amazed! It did take a while to go through all the setup, but the default was plenty good enough. So far, I have only used the lower brightness setting and at times would like a bit more illumination. The fan noise is minimal, even on 80+ degree days (it is mounted on the ceiling).
Summary: Excellent projector.. Due to space restrictions... I purchased this setup as an alternative to my Sony 52" XBR LCD. Knowing that it wouldn't compare to my LCD... I was VERY pleased with the picture. My only gripe, and to be expected, is the deepness of the blacks. Picture is extremely sharp at HD.. and colors are vibrant. Especially after a calibration.
Summary: I have wanted a home theater for a long time. When I saw the price on this 1080p projector for under a 1000, I took a chance and purchased it. I got it home and in under a few hours I had it mounted to my ceiling and connected to my receiver and was watching transformers on blu-ray. The picture quality is awesome and the dark levels are fine.
Summary: Overall, I am satisfied with the performance vs. price of the HD20. For a budget setup, this model is a good choice. I anticipated some performance shortcomings at this price point, and they are fairly obvious. The picture is very clear ans bright for a budget projector, but it is not equivalent to my LCD or even DLP TV. That said, I am projecting at 120" and my other TV's are half that size.
