Summary: This product projects GREAT, and looks GREAT, unfortunately, It hasn't even gone through one bulb yet (I've had it almost 2 years) but it HAS gone through 2 color wheels. Apparently their is a problem with the heat displacement or something, but ya, I had to install a color wheel myself, and now, 4 months later, it is doing the same thing, the part is only 30 dollars, but you have to open it up and do a repair that most people would NOT be able to do themselves.
Summary: STUNG!! Beware warranty limit. I had confidence in buying a refurbished product because the description says it comes with a manufacturer's warranty. I expected a year's warranty. NOT!! The warranty on this $850 product is only good for 90 days!! After you get it, you have to spend $200-300 more to buy a one or two year warranty. I feel like a fool because this is more costly than buying a new projector, which does come with a year's warranty.
Summary: I bought my Optoma HD20 15 months ago. It worked perfectly under normal use conditions... until two days ago when the notorious vertical white lines appeared across the screen. Conveniently enough, the regular warranty only covers repairs for a year, and I did not opt for any of the extended options. So, now I am left with the decision of whether it's worth getting repaired or to just buy a new (different) projector.
Summary: I bought 6 projectors and in just under 60 days, 3 of them died. There is a fatal design flaw in this projector related to heat. The color wheel assembly goes crazy and stops working. HORRIBLE. Edit: There is no dust filter on these and apparently if they accumulate enough dust they will refuse to turn on. This is probably a fire prevention feature but how hard is it to include a dust filter???
Summary: This was my first projector, so I didnt know what to expect. When I first got it I was amazed at how clear and good the picture actually was! I was thinking to myself 6/5 stars!!! Until one day I turned it on, and there are tons of white vertical lines on my screen. I called Optoma, they wound up sending me another one, after I sent that one in. And, after about two months that one did the same exact thing!!!
Summary: Purchased an Optima 16:9 Enhanced Projector two years and a month ago ($700). It was great at first but then developed a "bright spot" in the lower left of the screen. Noticeable but not too distracting so I just ignored it. Last week, with less than 25% of the lamp life used up the unit quit completely. I called Optima. It is a month out of warranty and to ship and fix it will cost $250 to $750. Darn. To get a more accurate estimate will cost $130.
Summary: I liked this unit very much at first - great picture, simple and easy to set up. But after just 14 months of pretty light use my unit started "flickering". Tough to describe but after about 15 minutes or so of use the colors would start to fade and shift and the picture would frequently flash - it would keep getting worse and worse and after another 5 - 10 minutes or so it was pretty much unusable. Problem got progressively worse.
