Summary: I purchased this in Jan of 2011... used it as my main TV at home... recently, I stated to see a couple of black and white specks on the image... I thought it was dirt... boy was I wrong... turns out the dmd chip needs replacement... the part alone costs 330.00.... I am soooo disgusted with this whole ordeal... Ill never purchase an Optoma again... no warranty to cover this!!! BUYER BEWARE!!
Summary: great image, great value, horrible reliability. i did a lot of research on the best value 1080p home theater projector and this one won. i really enjoyed it for the approximately 300 hours that i used it. now i don't know whether there's a fault somewhere or the light bulb is going but the light just shuts off within minutes of turning it on and then the lamp LED warning turns on. it's not hot, so that's not the problem.
Summary: I had this for 1 year and 4 months now. Everything was fine until today. Heard a pop, and a hissing sound. There was still a picture, but in black & white and all out of focus. I replaced the bulb anyway, but that wasn't the problem. It was still the same after bulb was changed. Must have blown the DLP circuitry. I can here parts rattling around inside the case. I'll be checking projectors from a different manufacturer.
Summary: I've owned my HD20 for almost 2 years now. It has not seen heavy use, mostly weekend "movie nights" with the family. I was very impressed with the picture quality when I first received the projector and felt like I made a good choice for the price and the fact that it was a 1080p projector. After about 18 months I started noticing occasional flickering while watching movies.
Summary: I purchased this projector in August of 2009. In June of 2011 it failed with only 127 total hours on the projector. I did not think much about warranty duration when I bought the projector, but now realize that is an important consideration. Obviously electronic devices will fail, however Optoma has outsourced their out of warranty repair work. Their vendor wanted $712 to repair the projector. This is outrageous.
Summary: I have had an HD20 projector for about three months. It has been in for service 3 times since my purchase and I have put maybe 20 hours on the projector. The picture is great when it works. This is my experience. 1) Got it out of the box played flawlessly for 1 week about 10 hours total. Then the unit would not power up. Sent for service which took 3 weeks, got it back and the unit was DOA.
Summary: With only 75 hours of use , the image shows vertical lines and the colors change, it seems the damage is common in many of these projectors, I can not understand the lack of quality control, be serious !!
Summary: We bought this projector in June 2010. In March 2011 the picture started flickering badly. Bad color wheel. Okay. Sent the projector back to Optima as it was still under warranty. They said they fixed it and sent it back. Fedex returned it to them and didn't deliver it to me. They called to verify my address. It was correct. They said they'd send it back to me. I think this is the point where they lost my projector. It didn't come. I called them to get a tracking number.
Summary: Prinzipiell gutes Gerät, scharfes Bild, ausreichend hell und relativ leise Lüftung. Finger weg!
