  • Conclusion: Lots of shadow detail, a fantastic amount, in fact. This is most helpful for games. Oh, however, I really would have liked to see better blacks. I’ve reduced the Brightness setting enough to crush some near blacks, to get some blacks vaguely resembling that of most entry level “regular” home entertainment projectors. Black level performance is more on par with some of the low cost all-in-one projectors, than anything stand alone and designed for home.
  • Pros: For the price of a 42″ 3D LCDTV, you can have 90″ 100″, 120″, or even larger, for game playing. Talk about immersive!, Both of our gaming / projector bloggers find that the GT720 delivers as a gaming platform. No lag, good shadow detail. • Conclusion: In the teaser I asked if Optoma has filled the gaming-specific projector void, and the answer is yes. The GT720 is a great gaming product that would easily be the centerpiece of your home gaming rig or something to break out when you take your gaming on-the-go. While it has a couple of opportunities for improvement (only 720p HD and a dysfunctional remote), its presentation, functionality, picture quality and cost effectiveness more than make up for it.
