Excellent projector overall

  • Summary: I have owned and used numerous projectors for years now and this little gem compares with the best of them. At work I use a 3000 lumens projector that weighs 20+ lbs and has a great picture with lots of features but it cost $8K and picture wise it has nothing on the Optima EZPRO 739 DLP projector. The Optima is a very quiet projector unlike other units that I've owned and the picture is crisp with no noticable delay during fast action scenes.

  • Summary: Personal Experience I’ve had my 739 since Jan 07. Out of the box the colors need to be adjusted. I used some of the suggestions that other users posted and it made a dramatic improvement. Adding a lot more blue seemed the main color I remember adjusting. Inputs: Component I used the component hook up at first for TV and DVD viewing and DVI for the PC. Watching anything through the component connections just looked bad and dark. My Dish is just standard def.

  • Summary: Personal Experience Came to this from the X-1 like a lot of people. Looks great with HD sources DVI and Component not very good with everything else. Seems to be getting louder over time. Great 4:3 in a contrelled lighting environment. Problems Over time it seems as if there is a focus problem where it shifts for text and then locks back in and this process repeats iteslf especially when watching credits roll at the end of a movie.

  • Summary: Personal Experience I have had the 739 since march of 05. I have been absolutely thrilled with it until recently. I switched from direct tv to cable. Whenever I try to use the DVI connection in conjunction with cable box I get a DVI error like Drew mentioned. I know this projector is compatable with HDCP content because I used the DVI connection with my DTV box with no problem. So it is a problem with cable boxes not the projector.

  • Summary: Personal Experience Coming from an Infocus X1, I am happy with the 739. I've had it for approx 3 weeks now. The svideo and composite inputs don't look as good as the X1, but using the component to VGA adapter, the 480i looks as good. Upside down mount is tricky due to limited keystone settings and zoom (compared to the X1). The projector is really quiet, I have too look at the lights when turning it on to verify it's actually on.

  • Summary: Personal Experience purchased 1 week ago, vga adapter 1 day ago - Excellent all-round pj, I agree with 99% opinions here. Problems faint but often noticed - vertical bars scrolling up image (more noticeable in lighter scenes), regardless of in-source or pj mode. I only saw 1 or 2 previous opinions mention this. All other things considered - should I learn to live with it (and try to ignore it)? or is it something in my source, do any DVI source users see this?

  • Summary: Personal Experience I just had a theater room constructed in my home with studio seating, raised second row, mini stage, 133" screen, etc. I am using the 739 projector and can not get over the value (features/performance/cost)! When friends come and I demo movies, they won't leave (I have 300+ DVDs in Sony DVD DVI carousel). Sporting events on TV (useing Nextvision tuner) are fantastic. Games (Xbox360) working great and ocassional laptop use are great too.

  • Summary: Personal Experience This projector is amazing - have it set up as a screening room in my NYC apartment. It's truly phenomenal. I only have one complaint - the projector only has [1] DVI input. This flaw is all the more fatal when you consider that using any input other than DVI to run your devices is an absolute joke. Seriously, they must be kidding me. The quality sucks - unless you use DVI.

  • Summary: Personal Experience Six months ago, I bought the Optoma 739 for classroom presentations at our church since it has a DVI input that matched the output of my Mac 12" Powerbook. Works great on this. Then I noticed that the unit would interface nicely with the Hi Def. DVR set top box (Scientific Atlanta 8300) that Time Warner Cable supplies at $7.95/mo. I bought a 50 ft. HDMI (from SA 8300) to DVI cable so I could run the cable, out of sight, through the attic.

  • Summary: Personal Experience I think I saw less rainbows during the 2005 pride parade. The throw sucks if less then 15 feet away, however they do have a short throw lens for just shy of $1000 (not bad if your and idiot). Stay away from this projector Problems I owned it for 14 days and there are too many to list.... 2100 lumens?????
